Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for performing processing involved with search, such as processing search information to return search results. In one exemplary implementation, there is provided a method for processing information to return search results including mixed-media media presentation(s) selectable by a user. Moreover, such method may involve user interaction to manipulate the presentation, display various media and/or effect other functionality. Further implementations may involve generation of interactive, visually rich mixed-media content of high information density providing improved user experience and/or improved value to various participants.

Claims (35)

1 - 106 . (canceled)

107 . A method comprising:

processing, by a computing device, a script to parse unstructured data into structured data;

selecting, by the computing device, media to display in a mixed-media module from the structured data;

generating, by the computing device, the mixed-media module as a function of the structured data, the mixed-media module comprising the media comprising images, video, and a link that navigates a client device of a user to a web page when the user selects the link, the media enabling access to content from a group of content types consisting of third party information, a web site, an application, and multimedia; and

communicating, by the computing device, the mixed-media module to the client device for display on the client device as part of a search results page displayed on the client device, thereby enabling access to the content via the search results page.

108 . The method of claim 107 , wherein the enabling of access to the content further comprises enabling access to the content in a non-linear fashion.

109 . The method of claim 107 , wherein the processing further comprises detecting entities in text.

110 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the detecting of the entities further comprises detecting an entity from a group of entities consisting of people, places, and things in the text.

111 . The method of claim 107 , wherein the parsing is a function of a base reference.

112 . The method of claim 107 , wherein the processing further comprises obtaining the structured data from an article.

113 . The method of claim 107 , further comprising performing classification analysis on the mixed-media module.

114 . The method of claim 113 , wherein the classification analysis comprises scoring of the mixed-media module.

115 . The method of claim 107 , further comprising enabling selection of the content associated with the mixed-media module by the user.

116 . (canceled)

117 . A computing device comprising:

a processor;

a storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the program logic comprising:

processing logic executed by the processor for processing a script to parse unstructured data into structured data;

selecting logic executed by the processor for selecting media to display in a mixed-media module from the structured data;

generating logic executed by the processor for generating the mixed-media module as a function of the structured data, the mixed-media module comprising images, video, and a link that navigates a client device of a user to a web page when the user selects the link, the media enabling access to content from a group of content types consisting of third party information, a web site, an application, and multimedia; and

communication logic executed by the processor for communicating the mixed-media module to the client device for display on the client device as part of a search results page displayed on the client device, thereby enabling access to the content via the search results page.

118 . The computing device of claim 117 , wherein the enabling of access to the content further comprises enabling access to the content in a non-linear fashion.

119 . The computing device of claim 117 , wherein the processing logic further comprises detecting logic for detecting entities in text.

120 . The computing device of claim 118 , wherein the detecting logic for detecting the entities further comprises detecting logic for detecting an entity from a group of entities consisting of people, places, and things in the text.

121 . The computing device of claim 117 , wherein the processing logic for parsing further comprises processing logic for parsing unstructured data into structured data as a function of a base reference.

122 . The computing device of claim 117 , wherein the processing logic further comprises obtaining logic for obtaining the structured data from an article.

123 . The computing device of claim 117 , further comprising performing logic executed by the processor for performing classification analysis on the mixed-media module.

124 . The computing device of claim 123 , wherein the performing logic for performing classification analysis comprises scoring logic for scoring the mixed-media module.

125 . The computing device of claim 117 , further comprising enabling logic executed by the processor for enabling selection of the content associated with the mixed-media module by the user.

126 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium for tangibly storing computer program instructions capable of being executed by a computer processor, the computer program instructions defining the steps of:

processing, by the computer processor, a script to parse unstructured data into structured data;

selecting, by the computer processor, media to display in a mixed-media module from the structured data;

generating, by the computer processor, the mixed-media module as a function of the structured data, the mixed-media module comprising images, video, and a link that navigates a client device of a user to a web page when the user selects the link, the media enabling access to content from a group of content types consisting of third party information, a web site, an application, and multimedia; and

communicating, by the computer processor, the mixed-media module to the client device for display on the client device as part of a search results page displayed on the client device, thereby enabling access to the content via the search results page.
