Abstract

A host Web page includes an evolving interactive dialog box wherein an Internet user may enter user data to be processed. When the user completes entering user data in a first revolution of the interactive dialog box, the first revolution is replaced with a second revolution of the evolving interactive dialog box without disturbing or affecting any other part of the host Web page being displayed. Beneficially, the first and second revolutions may be communicated to a user computer together with and at a same time as the host Web page. Also, the second revolution may include a variety of data which is selected or customized to match the user data submitted in the first revolution. Each revolution of the evolving interactive dialog box may be comprised of any combination of general textual data entry fields, category (pull-down) menus, contact information data entry fields, and opt-in/opt-out buttons.

Claims (32)

1. A method comprising:

storing a first, second, and third code set in a tangible machine-readable medium,

the first code set, when executed by a machine, causes the machine to present a first interactive dialog box at a first location in an information display upon interpretation of the first code set;

the second code set, when executed by the machine, causes the machine to receive a user input in the first interactive dialog box; and

the third code set, when executed by the machine, causes the machine to present a second interactive dialog box at a second location in the information display in response to the user input, the second interactive dialog box being displayed without disturbing or affecting at least one other portion of information presented in the information display; and

causing the transfer of the first, second, and third code sets via a network.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1 including storing a fourth code set to present a button for indicating when user input is complete.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the first, second, and third code sets are stored by one or more servers.

4. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the first, second, and third code sets are transferred in any order via the network to a client device.

5. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the first, second, and third code sets are transferred via the network to a client device by one or more servers.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the second interactive dialog box includes an advertisement.

7. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the second interactive dialog box includes a hyperlink to a different page.

8. The method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the first location and the second location are different locations in the information display.

9. The method as claimed in claim 1 including changing characteristics of the second interactive dialog box to match the characteristics of the information display in which the second interactive dialog box is displayed.

10. A method comprising:

obtaining a first, second, and third code set from a machine-readable medium via a network;

executing the first code set, using a machine, to present a first interactive dialog box at a first location in an information display upon interpretation of the first code set;

executing the second code set, using the machine, to receive a user input in the first interactive dialog box; and

executing the third code set, using the machine, to present a second interactive dialog box at a second location in the information display in response to the user input, the second interactive dialog box being displayed without disturbing or affecting at least one other portion of information presented in the information display.

11. The method as claimed in claim 10 including receiving a fourth code set via the network and using the fourth code set to present a button for indicating when user input is complete.

12. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein the first, second, and third code sets are received via the network from one or more servers.

13. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein the first, second, and third code sets are received in any order via the network.

14. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein the second interactive dialog box includes an advertisement.

15. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein the second interactive dialog box includes a hyperlink to a different page.

16. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein the first location and the second location are different locations in the information display.

17. The method as claimed in claim 10 including changing characteristics of the second interactive dialog box to match the characteristics of the information display in which the second interactive dialog box is displayed.

18. A system comprising:

a computer;

network components coupled to the computer for transferring data via a network; and

a processing system implemented on the computer to store a first code set for presenting a first interactive dialog box at a first location in an information display upon interpretation of the first code set; to store a second code set to receive a user input in the first interactive dialog box; to store a third code set to present a second interactive dialog box at a second location in the information display in response to the user input, the second interactive dialog box being displayed without disturbing or affecting at least one other portion of information presented in the information display; and to cause the transfer of the first, second, and third code sets via the network.

19. The system as claimed in claim 18 wherein the second interactive dialog box includes an advertisement.

20. The system as claimed in claim 18 wherein the second interactive dialog box includes a hyperlink to a different page.
