Abstract

An applicator/dispenser assembly for dispensing and/or applying an adhesive material comprises: a first body portion and a second body portion, at least one of the first and second body portions being movable relative to the other of the first and second body portions; a cavity in at least one of the first and second body portions; and a piercing or breaking member arranged on one of the first and second body portions. Movement of one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions moves the piercing or breaking member into the cavity. When a container of adhesive material is at least partially disposed within the cavity, movement of one of the first and second body portions relative to the other moves the piercing or breaking member to rupture the container for dispensing and/or applying the adhesive material.

Claims (14)

1. A method of applying/dispensing an adhesive material, comprising:

providing an applicator/dispenser for dispensing and/or applying an adhesive material comprising:

a first body portion and a second body portion, at least one of the first and second body portions being movable relative to the other of the first and second body portions and wherein said first body portion has an opening;

an open space at least partially in and between the first and second body portions; and

a piercing or breaking member arranged on one of the first and second body portions;

a container of adhesive material at least partially in the open space and at least partially in and between first and second body portions; and

a bladder at least partially in the open space and at least partially in and between first and second body portions and at least partially surrounding the container and wherein said bladder comprise a push button, said push button extending through said opening of said first body portion;

wherein movement of one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions moves the piercing or breaking member into the open space at least partially in and between the first and second body portions; placing a container of adhesive material at least partially into the open space at least partially in and between first and second body portions;

moving one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions to move the piercing or breaking member to rupture the container;

dispensing and controlling the flow of the adhesive material from the open space by depressing the said push button of said bladder; and

applying the dispensed adhesive material to a substrate to be bonded;

wherein the substrate to be bonded is tissue.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein moving one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions comprises pivoting one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein moving one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions comprises rotating one of the first and second body portions relative to the other of the first and second body portions.
