AGGREGATION OF MEDIA PRODUCT PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION

1 . A method for aggregating media product production and distribution responsive to demand fluctuations comprising:

using a communication network to receive data including production and distribution pricing grids from a network of production entities;

using the communication network to receive quoting requirements including quoting deadlines from a plurality of customers for producing and distributing a plurality of customer designated media products;

using a processor to produce one of more aggregations of the plurality of customer designated media products expressed by the received quoting requirements, wherein the aggregation is based on at least media product quantity, distribution destinations, and quoting deadlines and calculating one or more scores for the current one of more aggregations obtained from the received data including production and distribution pricing grids;

calculating an anticipated volume and type of new quoting requirements based on historic media product demand data;

comparing the current one of more aggregations to new one or more aggregations that will be produced from the received quoting requirements and the anticipated new quoting requirements to determine if the new one or more aggregations will produce an estimated one or more scores that are less than or equal to the one or more scores of the current one or more aggregations within the timeframe of the current quoting deadlines;

using the communication network to send the one or more aggregations including a quoting deadline to the subset of production entities selected from the production entity network if the current one or more scores are within a pre-established threshold or holding the one or more aggregations until additional quoting requirements are received before the current quoting deadlines have elapsed; and

using the communication network to receive quotes from the subset of production entities selected from the production entity network, using the processor to calculate customer pricing for the production and distribution of customer designated media products from the received quotes, and using the communication network to send the calculated customer prices to the plurality of customers before the quoting deadline has elapsed.

2 . The method of claim 1 further including sending a request for the extension of quoting deadlines to the customer when the historic data indicates there will be potential orders that can be aggregated after the quoting deadline.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the quoting deadline requirements are used prior to aggregation.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the quoting deadline requirements are used after aggregation.

5 . The method of claim 1 further including modifying the margin received by the aggregator based on historical data.

6 . The method of claim 2 further including providing the customer with enhanced pricing based on agreed upon quoting deadline extension.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the customer designated media products are in electronic form.

8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the customer designated media products are printed form.
