Abstract

A scalable energy harvesting system comprising at least one charging control device, at least one energy storage device responsive to the charging control device, at least one energy harvesting device operatively coupled to the charging control device, and a plurality of bus based power connectors operatively coupled to the charging control device.

Claims (55)

1. A scalable energy harvesting system, comprising:

at least one charging control device;

an inductive resonance coupling operatively coupled to said charging control device for providing energy to an energy storage device;

at least one energy harvesting device operatively coupled to said charging control device; and

a plurality of bus based power connectors operatively coupled to said charging control device;

wherein said charging control device directs a plurality of electrical currents.

2. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 wherein said charging control device conducts said plurality of electrical currents serially over said plurality of bus based power connectors to the energy storage device.

3. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 wherein said charging control device conducts said plurality of electrical currents in parallel over said plurality of bus based power connectors to the energy storage device.

4. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 further comprising at least one wireless charging receiver operatively coupled to said charging control device.

5. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 wherein said energy harvesting device comprises a solar cell.

6. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 further comprising a magnetic coupling operatively coupled to said charging control device.

7. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 further comprising a power supply connection operatively coupled to said charging control device.

8. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 , wherein said energy storage device comprises a rechargeable battery.

9. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 wherein said charging control device is a portable electric device.

10. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 wherein said energy harvesting device comprises a solar cell, a piezoelectric element, a radio frequency receiver, an electrostatic discharge receiver, a Seebeck effect receiver, or a combination thereof.

11. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 1 further comprising a charging module housing connected to said energy harvesting device.

12. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 11 further comprising

a holster connectable to said charging module housing; and

a set of connection pins connected to said holster, wherein said set of connection pins electrically are connectable to an energy storage device.

13. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 12 further comprising a car sunshade; and

at least one solar panel connected to said car sunshade.

14. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 12 further comprising a backpack; and

at least one solar panel connected to said backpack.

15. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 12 further comprising a non-control device.

16. A scalable energy harvesting system, comprising:

at least one charging control device;

at least one energy storage device operatively coupled to said charging control device;

at least one wireless charging receiver operatively coupled to said charging control device;

at least one energy harvesting device operatively coupled to said charging control device; and

a plurality of bus based power connectors operatively coupled to said charging control device;

wherein said charging control device directs at least one harvested power input from said energy harvesting device and at least one bus based energy power input from said bus based power connectors to said energy storage device.

17. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 16 further comprising at least one indicator operatively coupled to said charging control device.

18. The scalable energy harvesting system of claim 16 further comprising at least one control switch interface operatively coupled to said charging control device.

19. A method of scalable energy harvesting, comprising the steps of:

receiving at least one power level from an energy storage device;

receiving at least one harvested power input from at least one energy harvesting device;

receiving at least one bus based energy power input from at least one bus based power connector;

implementing a charge pattern for said energy storage device, based upon said power level of said energy storage device, said harvested power input of said energy harvesting device, and said bus based energy power input of said bus based power connector;

receiving at least one wireless energy power input from at least one wireless charging receiver; and

implementing said charge pattern for said storage device based upon said power level of said energy storage device, said harvested power input of said energy harvesting device, said bus based energy power input of said bus based power connector, and said wireless energy power input.

20. The method of scalable energy harvesting of claim 19 , further comprising the steps of:

receiving at least one connection pin energy power input from at least one connection pin; and

implementing said charge pattern for said energy storage device based upon said power level of said energy storage device, said harvested power input of said energy harvesting device, said bus based energy power input of said bus based power connector, and said connection pin energy power input.

21. A scalable energy harvesting system, comprising:

at least one charging control device;

at least one wireless charging receiver operatively coupled to said charging control device;

at least one energy harvesting device operatively coupled to said charging control device; and

a plurality of bus based power connectors operatively coupled to said charging control device;

wherein said charging control device directs a plurality of electrical currents.

22. A scalable energy harvesting system, comprising:

at least one charging control device;

a magnetic coupling operatively coupled to said charging control device for providing energy to an energy storage device;

at least one energy harvesting device operatively coupled to said charging control device; and

a plurality of bus based power connectors operatively coupled to said charging control device;

wherein said charging control device directs a plurality of electrical currents.
