Abstract

A method includes generating search results in response to a user query, where at least one of the search results includes a group of links. The group of links may represent links to web pages within a same web site and may be identified based on at least one factor associated with the links. The method may also include providing the search results to the user.

Claims (96)

1. A non-transitory computer-readable memory device storing instructions, the instructions comprising:

one or more instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

receive a search query;

determine search results based on the search query,

the search results including:

a first search result corresponding to a first web page of a plurality of web pages from a first domain, and

a second search result corresponding to a second web page from a second domain that is different from the first domain; and

provide information regarding the search results for presentation on a display of a client device,

the information regarding the search results including a reference to the first web page and additional references to additional web pages of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

each of the reference and the additional references comprising a link to a respective one of the first web page and the additional web pages, and

the additional web pages from the first domain being selected based on a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

the measure of quality, for one of the plurality of web pages, relating to a quantity of times that the one of the plurality of web pages has been accessed.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable memory device of claim 1 , where the one or more instructions to provide the information regarding the search results include:

one or more instructions that, when executed by flail the processor, cause the processor to provide a plurality of links to the plurality of web pages from the first domain.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable memory device of claim 1 , where the one or more instructions to provide the information regarding the search results include:

one or more instructions that, when executed by flail the processor, cause the processor to provide, for the first search result, an option for performing a search of a first web site corresponding to the first domain, and

where the instructions further comprise:

one or more instructions that, when executed by flail the processor, cause the processor to:

receive a selection of the option; and

cause, based on the selection, a search of the first web site, to be performed.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable memory device of claim 1 , where the instructions further comprise:

one or more instructions that, when executed by flail the processor, cause the processor to:

determine the measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable memory device of claim 1 , where the instructions further comprise:

one or more instructions that, when executed by flail the processor, cause the processor to:

determine the measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

where the measure of quality, for one or more of the plurality of web pages, relates to a total quantity of links that point to the one or more of the plurality of web pages.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable memory device of claim 1 , where the instructions further comprise:

one or more instructions that, when executed by flail the processor, cause the processor to:

determine the measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

where the measure of quality, for one or more of the plurality of web pages, relates to a likelihood that a particular client device will make a purchase of an item available via the one or more of the plurality of web pages.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable memory device of claim 1 , where the one or more instructions to provide the information regarding the search results include:

one or more instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to provide, for each of the search results, one or more of:

a title for the search result,

text from a particular web page corresponding to the search result,

information identifying an address of the particular web page, or

one or more links to one or more web pages associated with a domain corresponding to a web site associated with the particular web page.

8. A method comprising:

receiving, by one or more server devices, a search query;

determining, by the one or more server devices, search results based on the search query,

the search results including:

a first search result corresponding to a first web page of a plurality of web pages from a first domain, and

a second search result corresponding to a second web page from a second domain that is different from the first domain; and

providing, by the one or more server devices, information regarding the search results for presentation on a display of a client device,

the information regarding the search results including, for the first search result, a first reference to the first web page and a second reference to one of the plurality of web pages,

each of the first reference and the second reference comprising a link to a respective one of the first web page and the one of the plurality of web pages,

the one of the plurality of web pages being selected based on a measure of quality for the one of the plurality of web pages, and

the measure of quality, for one of the plurality of web pages, relating to a quantity of times that the one of the plurality of web pages has been accessed.

9. The method of claim 8 , where providing the information regarding the search results includes:

providing a link to each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain.

10. The method of claim 8 , where providing the information regarding the search results includes:

providing, for the first search result, an option for performing a search of a first web site corresponding to the first domain, and

where the method further comprises:

receiving a selection of the option; and

causing, based on the selection, a search of the first web site, to be performed.

11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain.

12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

where the measure of quality, for one or more of the plurality of web pages, relates to a total quantity of links that point to the one or more of the plurality of web pages.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

where the measure of quality, for one or more of the plurality of web pages, relates to a likelihood that a particular client device will make a purchase of an item available via the one or more of the plurality of web pages.

14. The method of claim 8 , where providing the information regarding search results includes:

providing, for each of the search results, one or more of:

a title for the search result,

a portion of text from web pages corresponding to each of the search results,

information identifying addresses of the web pages corresponding to each of the search results, or

one or more links to one or more web pages associated with domains corresponding to web sites associated with the web pages corresponding to each of the search results.

15. A device comprising:

one or more processors to:

receive a search query;

determine search results based on the search query,

the search results including:

a first search result corresponding to a first web page of a plurality of web pages from a first domain, and

a second search result corresponding to a second web page from a second domain that is different from the first domain; and

provide information regarding the search results for presentation on a display of a client device,

the information regarding the search results including a first reference to the first web page and a second reference to one of the plurality of web pages,

each of the first reference and the second reference comprising a link to a respective one of the first web page and the one of the plurality of web pages,

the one of the plurality of web pages being selected based on a measure of quality for the one of the plurality of web pages, and

the measure of quality, for the one of the plurality of web pages, relating to a quantity of times that the one of the plurality of web pages has been accessed.

16. The device of claim 15 , where, when providing the information regarding the search results, the one or more processors are to:

provide links to the plurality of web pages from the first domain.

17. The device of claim 15 , where, when providing the information regarding the search results, the one or more processors are to:

provide, for the first search result, an option for performing a search of a first web site corresponding to the first domain, and

where the one or more processors are further to:

receive a selection of the option; and

cause, based on the selection, a search of the first web site, to be performed.

18. The device of claim 15 , where the one or more processors are further to:

determine a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain.

19. The device of claim 15 , where the one or more processors are further to:

determine a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,

where the measure of quality, for one or more of the plurality of web pages, relates to a total quantity of links that point to the one or more of the plurality of web pages.

20. The device of claim 15 , where the one or more processors are further to:

determine a measure of quality for each of the plurality of web pages from the first domain,
