Cervical collar with cable reel adjustment system
View Patent ↗A cervical collar having a vertically adjustable chin support, the collar including a chin support adjustably connected to a collar body, a cable reel for adjusting the length of a cable, a cable stop connecting between the collar body and the chin support and slidingly positionable along a slot on the collar body and a pulley located on the collar body adjacent to the elongate slot. Adjustment of the length of the cable adjusts the position of the cable stop along the slot and adjusts the vertical position of the chin support relative to the collar body.
1. A cervical collar having a vertically adjustable chin support, the collar comprising: a chin support vertically adjustable relative to a pair of body portions configured to overlie opposite upper chest portions of a patient adjacent to a neck of the patient and pivotally connected to one another, wherein when the chin support is vertically adjusted relative to the body portions the body portions pivot relative to one another to maintain conformity of the body portions to the patient throughout the vertical adjustment of the chin support and an angle defined between the chin support and the body portions remains substantially constant.
2. The collar of claim 1 , further comprising a sternal pad attached to the body portions wherein the sternal pad remains in substantial conformity with a sternum of the patient despite adjustments of the vertical height of the chin support.
