Method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for providing a digital unwrapping trigger
View Patent ↗Provided herein are systems, methods and computer readable media for facilitating delivery of a digital notification of a physical product to inform a recipient of the identity of the physical product. A digital notification may inform the recipient of the identity of a physical product ordered for the recipient by a sender. A digital unwrapping trigger may be utilized to ensure that the recipient is authorized to view the identity of the digital product. For example, the digital notification may not identify the identity of the physical product until a particular date has passed (e.g., a holiday or birthday), until the recipient performs a certain task, or until the recipient meets a certain goal. In response to the trigger occurring, the digital notification may be enabled for viewing of the identity of the physical product. The physical delivery of the product may be coordinated with delivery of the digital notification.
1. A method for managing electronic content identified by a link provided, via a network, by means of a digital notification, the digital notification configured to be provided in advance of a digital trigger being met, the link providing access to first electronic content withholding a portion of available electronic information until the digital trigger is met and, subsequently, providing access to second electronic content upon verification of the digital trigger being met, thereby providing access to all of the available electronic information, the method comprising:
receiving, via a network, a purchase order for a physical product, the purchase order comprising a physical and digital address of a recipient, and at least one digital unwrapping trigger;
generating a first set of electronic content, wherein the first set of electronic content comprises first information, the first information comprising information notifying a recipient of the purchase order but withholding information identifying the physical product;
providing a digital notification to the recipient, via the electronic communication to the digital address of the recipient, the digital notification comprising a link to the first set of electronic content;
receiving an indication of a selection of the link;
accessing a trigger data source to verify that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has been met;
upon receiving an indication that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has not been met, providing the first set of electronic content;
upon receiving an indication that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has been met,
modifying the first set of electronic content to generate a second set of electronic content by altering the first set of electronic content at a network location pointed to by the link in the digital notification, the second set of electronic content comprises second information, the second information further comprising the information identifying the physical product;
upon reception of the indication of the selection of the link in the digital notification, displaying the second set of electronic content at the network location indicated by the link;
receiving an indicator that the recipient has viewed the digital notification; and
in response to receiving the indicator, initiating the physical delivery of the physical product.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the digital notification is provided to the recipient in response to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the digital notification is provided to the recipient prior to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising coordinating a physical delivery of the physical product so that the physical delivery occurs after the digital delivery of the digital notification.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the digital unwrapping trigger is at least one of a date, a time, or an occurrence of an event.
6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the at least one digital unwrapping trigger from a sender who initiated the purchase order.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the digital unwrapping trigger comprises a plurality of events, and wherein each of the plurality of events causes a sub-notification to be sent to the recipient.
8. The method of claim 7 , wherein each sub-notification includes the identity of a separate product.

An apparatus for managing electronic content identified by a link provided, via a network, by means of a digital notification, the digital notification configured to be provided in advance of a digital trigger being met, the link providing access to first electronic content withholding a portion of available electronic information until the digital trigger is met and, subsequently, providing access to second electronic content upon verification of the digital trigger being met, thereby providing access to all of the available electronic information, the apparatus comprising:
a memory coupled to at least one processor; and
the at least one processor configured to:
receive, via a network, a purchase order for a physical product, the purchase order comprising a physical and digital address of a recipient, and at least one digital unwrapping trigger;
generate a first set of electronic content, wherein the first set of electronic content comprises first information, the first information comprising information notifying a recipient of the purchase order but withholding information identifying the physical product;
provide a digital notification to the recipient via an electronic communication to the digital address of the recipient, the digital notification comprising a link to the first set of electronic content;
receiving an indication of a selection of the link;
accessing a trigger data source to verify that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has been met;
upon receiving an indication that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has not been met, providing the first set of electronic content;
upon receiving an indication that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has been met, modify the first set of electronic content to generate a second set of electronic content by altering the first set of electronic content at a network location pointed to by the link in the digital notification, the second set of electronic content comprises second information, the second information further comprising the information identifying the physical product;
upon reception of the indication of the selection of the link in the digital notification, displaying the second set of electronic content at configured to display to the recipient that visits the network location indicated by the link;
receive an indicator that the recipient has viewed the digital notification; and
in response to receiving the indicator, initiate the physical delivery of the physical product.
10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the digital notification is provided to the recipient in response to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
11. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the digital notification is provided to the recipient prior to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
12. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the processor is further configured to coordinate a physical delivery of the physical product so that the physical delivery occurs after the digital delivery of the digital notification.
13. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium for managing electronic content identified by a link provided, via a network, by means of a digital notification, the digital notification configured to be provided in advance of a digital trigger being met, the link providing access to first electronic content withholding a portion of available electronic information until the digital trigger is met and, subsequently, providing access to second electronic content upon verification of the digital trigger being met, thereby providing access to all of the available electronic information, the non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
receive, via a network, a purchase order for a physical product, the purchase order comprising a physical and digital address of a recipient, and at least one digital unwrapping trigger;
generate a first set of electronic content, wherein the first set of electronic content comprises first information, the first information comprising information notifying a recipient of the purchase order but withholding information identifying the physical product;
provide a digital notification to the recipient via the electronic communication to the digital address of the recipient, the digital notification comprising a link to the first set of electronic content;
receiving an indication of a selection of the link;
accessing a trigger data source to verify that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has been met;
upon receiving an indication that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has not been met, providing the first set of electronic content;
upon receiving an indication that the at least one digital unwrapping trigger has been met,
modify the first set of electronic content to generate a second set of electronic content by altering the first set of electronic content at a network location pointed to by the link in the digital notification, the second set of electronic content comprises second information, the second information further comprising the information identifying the physical product;
upon reception of the indication of the selection of the link in the digital notification, displaying the second set of electronic content at the network location indicated by the link;
receive an indicator that the recipient has viewed the digital notification; and
in response to receiving the indicator, initiate the physical delivery of the physical product.
14. The computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the digital notification is provided to the recipient in response to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
15. The computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the digital notification is provided to the recipient prior to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
16. The computer readable medium of claim 13 , further comprising instructions to cause the processor to enable the recipient to use the digital notification to identify the physical product in response to the recipient meeting the at least one digital unwrapping trigger.
17. The computer readable medium of claim 13 , further comprising instructions to cause the processor to coordinate a physical delivery of the physical product so that the physical delivery occurs after the digital delivery of the digital notification.
