Data transfer systems

1. A data transfer system, comprising:

a piece of athletic equipment for use by a user;

a first individual network component engaged with the piece of athletic equipment, wherein the first individual network component is configured to transmit first data from the piece of athletic equipment to a remote component in communication with the first individual network component; and

a second individual network component, wherein the second individual network component is at least one of a display device and an audio output device, and is configured to receive second data from the remote component,

wherein the first data includes at least one of user identity data and performance data, and

wherein the second data includes information regarding the route traversed by the user while using the athletic equipment.

2. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the second individual network component is a display device configured to display at least one of text, images, and video.

3. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the second individual network component is an audio output device.

4. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the remote component is the second individual network component.

5. The data, transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the second individual network component is included in a watch.

6. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the first individual network component is configured to transmit the first data wirelessly.

7. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the first individual network component is configured to transmit the first data wirelessly, and wherein the remote component is the second individual network component.

8. The data transfer system of claim 7 , wherein the second individual network component is an audio output device.

9. The data transfer system of claim 7 , wherein the second individual network component, displays at least one of speed information, timing information, and distance information.

10. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the second individual network component displays at least one of speed information, timing information, and distance information.

11. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the remote system is a personal computer.

12. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the remote system is a third individual network component.

13. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the performance data is associated with use of the piece of athletic equipment.

14. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the second data includes information regarding an approaching feature of the user's route.

15. The data transfer system of claim 1 , wherein the piece of athletic equipment comprises an article of footwear to be worn by the user.

16. A data transfer system, comprising:

a piece of athletic equipment; and

an individual network component engaged with the piece of athletic equipment, wherein the individual network component is configured to transmit data, from the piece of athletic equipment to a remote component in communication with the individual network component;

wherein the data includes athletic performance information,

wherein the remote component includes a display configured to display information based on the data, and

wherein the displayed information includes advertising information that has been selected based on the data.

17. The data transfer system of claim 16 , wherein the advertising information includes a discount offer.

18. The data transfer system of claim 16 , wherein the data includes athletic performance information related to the use, of the piece of athletic equipment.

19. The data transfer system of claim 16 , wherein the remote component is adapted to be worn or carried by the individual while the individual uses the piece of athletic equipment.

20. The data transfer system of claim 16 , wherein the remote component is, located remotely from the individual while the individual uses the piece of athletic equipment.

21. The data transfer system of claim 16 , wherein the piece of athletic equipment comprises an article of footwear to be worn by the individual.

22. A data transfer system, comprising:

a first individual network component engaged with a piece of athletic equipment, wherein the first individual network component comprises a motion sensor, and wherein the first individual network component is configured to wirelessly transmit motion data to a second individual network component; and

the second individual network component, wherein the second individual network component comprises a position sensor and at least one of a display and an audio output, is configured to be worn or carried by a user during the athletic activity of the user, is configured to wirelessly receive the motion data from the first individual network component,

and is configured to provide an output based on the motion data and data sensed by the position sensor.

23. The data transfer system of claim 22 , wherein the motion data comprises one of speed, pace, and distance data.

24. The data transfer system of claim 22 , wherein the motion sensor comprises an acceleration sensor.

25. The data transfer system of claim 22 , comprising:

a third individual network component configured to wirelessly transmit data to the second individual network component,

and

wherein the data transmitted by the third individual network component is performance data.

26. The data transfer system of claim 22 , wherein the piece of athletic equipment comprises an article of footwear to be worn by the user.

27. The data transfer system of claim 25 , wherein the second individual network component is configured to provide an output based on the motion data, the data sensed by the position sensor, and the performance data.
