MOBILE DEVICE CASE
A removable case for a mobile device is provided, the mobile device having a front face and a side edge, and an input button located on the side edge. The case includes a main body defining a region in which the mobile device can be removably received, and an actuator on the main body having a user interface and a button interface, wherein the actuator translates an input force received on the user interface into a button activating force applied by the button interface in a different direction than the input force.

21 . A removable case for a mobile device, the mobile device including a front face and at least one side edge, and an input button located on the at least one side edge, the case comprising:
a main body defining a region for receiving the mobile device;
an actuator on the main body, the actuator including a user interface and a button interface; and
the actuator being configured to translate an input force received on the user interface into a button activating force applied by the button interface against the input button of the mobile device when the mobile device is received in the region, the button activating force being applied in a different direction than the input force.
22 . The case of claim 21 wherein the main body includes a base panel and at least one side panel corresponding to the at least one side edge of the mobile device when the mobile device is received in the region, the actuator being located on the at least one side panel.
23 . The case of claim 22 wherein the at least one side panel is temporarily deformable to receive the mobile device within the region.
24 . The case of claim 22 wherein the actuator moves from a first position to an activated position when the input force is received and moves from the activated position back to the first position when the input force is removed.
25 . The case of claim 24 wherein at least a portion of the at least one side panel is temporarily deformed when the actuator moves from the first position to the activated position and returns to an original shape when the actuator moves from the activated position to the first position.
26 . The case of claim 25 wherein the at least one side panel biases the actuator into the first position.
27 . The case of claim 21 wherein the direction of the button activating force is substantially orthogonal to the direction of the input force.
28 . The case of claim 21 , wherein the main body defines a window enabling at least one of:
viewing of a display on the front face of the mobile device; and
access to at least one input device on the front face of the mobile device;
when the mobile device is received in the region.
29 . The case of claim 21 , further comprising an indicator on the main body indicating location of at least one covered button on the mobile device that is covered by the case, when the mobile device is received in the region.
30 . The case of claim 21 , wherein the actuator is configured to receive the input force in a direction substantially normal to the front face of the mobile device.
31 . A removable case for a mobile device, the mobile device including a front face and at least one side edge, and an input button located on the at least one side edge, the case comprising:
a main body defining a region for receiving the mobile device;
an actuator on the main body being movable from a first position to an activated position in a first direction, the actuator including a user interface and a button interface; and
the button interface comprising a chamfered surface configured to, when the actuator is moved to the activated position, apply a button activating force against the input button when the mobile device is received in the region, the button activating force being applied in a different direction than the first direction.
32 . The case of claim 31 wherein the main body includes a base panel and at least one side panel corresponding to the at least one side edge of the mobile device when the mobile device is received in the region, the actuator being located on the at least one side panel.
33 . The case of claim 32 wherein the at least one side panel biases the actuator into the first position.
34 . The case of claim 31 wherein the button activating force is applied in a direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction.
35 . The case of claim 31 , wherein the main body defines a window enabling at least one of:
viewing of a display on the front face of the mobile device; and
access to at least one input device on the front face of the mobile device;
when the mobile device is received in the region.
36 . A removable case for a mobile device, the mobile device including a front face and at least one side edge, and an input button located on the at least one side edge, the case comprising:
a main body defining a region for receiving the mobile device; and
an actuator on the main body being movable from a first position to an activated position, the actuator including a user interface and a button interface;
wherein the actuator is configured to receive an input force on the user interface to move the actuator into the activated position in which the button interface is pivoted in towards the region.
37 . The case of claim 36 wherein the main body comprises a resilient deformable portion that is deformed when the actuator moves to the activated position and which biases the actuator into the first position.
38 . The case of claim 36 wherein the main body includes a base panel and at least one side panel corresponding to the at least one side edge of the mobile device when the mobile device is received in the region, the actuator being located on the at least one side panel.
