Abstract

A computer-readable medium including computer-executable instructions providing a method of displaying units of time on arrays of user-selectable elements, the method comprising causing an array of user-selectable elements to be displayed along an axis having a timeline comprising collapsible units of time. An interface, a computerized system and a method for enabling same is also described hereby.

Claims (24)

1 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a computer system, provide a method of displaying units of time on arrays of user-selectable elements, the method comprising causing an array of user-selectable elements to be displayed along an axis having a timeline comprising collapsible units of time.

2 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the user-selectable elements are computer-readable files.

3 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein units of time representing equal length of time are visually represented in equal lengths along the axis, according to a linear timescale.

4 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein units of time representing equal length of time are not visually represented in equal lengths along the axis, according to a non-linear timescale.

5 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein units of time having no user-selectable elements therein are adapted to be collapsed when the array of user-selectable elements is displayed.

6 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the array of user-selectable elements is a first array of user-selectable elements and wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 further comprises displaying a second array of user-selectable elements along a second axis sharing the timeline, wherein units of time shared by the first array and the second array are adapted to collectively collapse corresponding respective units of time of the first array and the second array.

7 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein a collapsed unit of time is adapted to be expanded to regain an original length along the axis.

8 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of consecutive units of time are adapted to be collectively collapsed.

9 . A computerized system configured to read computer-executable instructions adapted to enable a program enabling an interface adapted to display units of time on arrays of user-selectable elements the computerized system comprising:

a processing unit configured to process the computer executable instructions; and

a display configured to display the interface;

the program, when executed, being operative to:

cause an array of user-selectable elements to be displayed along an axis having a timeline comprising collapsible units of time.

10 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein at least some of the user-selectable elements are computer-readable files.

11 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein units of time representing equal length of time are visually represented in equal lengths along the axis, according to a linear timescale.

12 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein units of time representing equal length of time are not visually represented in equal lengths along the axis, according to a non-linear timescale.

13 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein units of time having no user-selectable elements therein are adapted to be collapsed when the array of user-selectable elements is displayed.

14 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein the array of user-selectable elements is a first array of user-selectable elements and wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 further comprises displaying a second array of user-selectable elements along a second axis sharing the timeline, wherein units of time shared by the first array and the second array are adapted to collectively collapse corresponding respective units of time of the first array and the second array.

15 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein a collapsed unit of time is adapted to be expanded to regain an original length along the axis.

16 . The computerized system of claim 9 , wherein a plurality of consecutive units of time are adapted to be collectively collapsed.

17 . A method of managing timelines of arrays of user-selectable elements on a display of a computer system, the method comprising causing an array of computer-readable files to be displayed along an axis having a timeline comprising collapsible units of time.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein units of time having no user-selectable elements therein are adapted to be collapsed.

19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the array of computer-readable files is a first array of computer-readable files and wherein the method of claim 17 further comprises displaying a second array of computer-readable files along a second axis sharing the timeline, wherein units of time shared by the first array and the second array are adapted to collectively collapse corresponding respective units of time of the first array and the second array.

20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein a collapsed unit of time is adapted to be expanded to regain an original length along the axis.
