Ancestry painting with local ancestry inference

1. A system of presenting ancestry composition information, comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more memories coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the one or more memories are configured to provide the one or more processors with instructions which when executed cause the one or more processors to:

receive a request to display ancestry data of an individual for whom genotype data is available;

obtain ancestry composition information of the individual, the ancestry composition information including information pertaining to a proportion of the individual's genotype data that is deemed to correspond to a specific ancestry, and including inheritance information of proportions of ancestries of the individual that are deemed to be inherited from a mother of father of the individual; and

present the ancestry composition information to be displayed.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the specific ancestry corresponds to a geographical region, and the one or more memories are further configured to provide the one or more processors with instructions which when executed cause the one or more processors to:

receive a request to display geographical subregions that correspond to the specific ancestry and the individual's genotype data; and

cause the geographical subregions to be displayed.

The system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more memories are further configured to provide the one or more processors with instructions which when executed cause the one or more processors to cause proportions of the individual's genotype data that are deemed to correspond to the geographical subregions to be displayed.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein to present the ancestry composition information to be displayed includes: to cause a proportion of the individual's ancestries that are deemed to be inherited from the father to be displayed in a first area; and to cause a proportion of the individual's ancestries that are deemed to be inherited from the mother to be displayed in a second area.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the individual's genotype data includes genomic data.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the individual's genotype data includes data of a specific chromosome.

7. A system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more memories coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the one or more memories are configured to provide the one or more processors with instructions which when executed cause the one or more processors to:

receive a request to display ancestry data of an individual for whom genotype data is available;

obtain ancestry composition information of the individual, the ancestry composition information including information pertaining to a proportion of the individual's genotype data that is deemed to correspond to a specific ancestry, and the individual's genotype data comprising data of a specific chromosome;

present the ancestry composition information to be displayed;

receive a request to display ancestry composition information pertaining to the specific chromosome; and

cause ancestry composition information pertaining to the specific chromosome to be displayed.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein to obtain the ancestry composition information of the individual comprises:

to obtain unphased genotype data of the individual;

to phase the unphased genotype data to generate phased haplotype data;

to classify portions of the phased haplotype data as corresponding to specific ancestries respectively to generate initial classification results; and

to correct errors in the initial classification results to generate modified classification results.

9. A method of presenting ancestry composition information, comprising:

receiving a request to display ancestry data of an individual for whom genotype data is available;

obtaining ancestry composition information of the individual, the ancestry composition information including information pertaining to a proportion of the individual's genotype data that is deemed to correspond to a specific ancestry, and including inheritance information of proportions of ancestries of the individual that are deemed to be inherited from a mother or father of the individual; and

presenting the ancestry composition information to be displayed.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the specific ancestry corresponds to a geographical region, and the method further comprises:

receiving a request to display geographical subregions that correspond to the specific ancestry and the individual's genotype data; and

causing the geographical subregions to be displayed.

11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising causing proportions of the individual's genotype data that are deemed to correspond to the geographical subregions to be displayed.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein presenting the ancestry composition information to be displayed includes: causing a proportion of the individual's ancestries that are deemed to be inherited from the father to be displayed in a first area; and causing a proportion of the individual's ancestries that are deemed to be inherited from the mother to be displayed in a second area.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the individual's genotype data includes genomic data.

14. The method of claim 9 , wherein the individual's genotype data includes data of a specific chromosome.

15. A method, comprising:

receiving a request to display ancestry data of an individual for whom genotype data is available;

obtaining ancestry composition information of the individual, the ancestry composition information including information pertaining to a proportion of the individual's genotype data that is deemed to correspond to a specific ancestry, wherein the individual's genotype data includes data of a specific chromosome;

presenting the ancestry composition information to be displayed;

receiving a request to display ancestry composition information pertaining to the specific chromosome; and

causing ancestry composition information pertaining to the specific chromosome to be displayed.

16. The method of claim 9 , wherein obtaining the ancestry composition information of the individual comprises:

obtaining unphased genotype data of the individual;

phasing the unphased genotype data to generate phased haplotype data;

classifying portions of the phased haplotype data as corresponding to specific ancestries respectively to generate initial classification results; and

correcting errors in the initial classification results to generate modified classification results.

17. A computer program product for presenting ancestry composition information, the computer program product being embodied in a tangible computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

receiving a request to display ancestry data of an individual for whom genotype data is available;

obtaining ancestry composition information of the individual, the ancestry composition information including information pertaining to a proportion of the individual's genotype data that is deemed to correspond to a specific ancestry, and including inheritance information of proportions of ancestries of the individual that are deemed to be inherited from a mother or father of the individual; and

presenting the ancestry composition information to be displayed.

18. The computer program product of claim 17 , wherein the specific ancestry corresponds to a geographical region, and the computer program product further comprises computer instructions for:

receiving a request to display geographical subregions that correspond to the specific ancestry and the individual's genotype data; and

causing the geographical subregions to be displayed.

19. The computer program product of claim 17 , wherein the individual's genotype data includes data of a specific chromosome.

20. A computer program product for presenting ancestry composition information, the computer program product being embodied in a tangible computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

receiving a request to display ancestry data of an individual for whom genotype data is available;

obtaining ancestry composition information of the individual, the ancestry composition information including information pertaining to a proportion of the individual's genotype data that is deemed to correspond to a specific ancestry, wherein the individual's genotype data includes data of a specific chromosome;

presenting the ancestry composition information to be displayed;

receiving a request to display ancestry composition information pertaining to the specific chromosome; and

causing ancestry composition information pertaining to the specific chromosome to be displayed.
