Proximity and interface controls of media devices for media presentations
View Patent ↗Embodiments relate generally to electrical/electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, portable, wearable, and stationary media devices. RF transceivers and/or audio system in each media device may be used to wirelessly communicate between media devices and allow configuration and other data to be wirelessly transmitted from one media device to another media device. The proximity detection system may be configured to detect a presence of a user or multiple users and upon detecting presence, access content on a user device, and record the content while also playing back the content on the media device. One or more user devices in proximity of the media device post detection may wirelessly communicate with the media device and the media device may orchestrate handling of content from those devices or from a wirelessly accessible location such as the Cloud or Internet.
1. A method for proximity and interface control of content, comprising:
detecting presence of a user using a proximity detection island on a media device;
detecting a wireless signal from a user device;
connecting wirelessly with the user device with the media device;
accessing wirelessly, using the media device, content from the user device or a location specified by the user device;
determining a size of the content;
selecting a location to record the content to if the content is dynamic, or to store the content to if the content is static, wherein the location is selected based on the size of the content;
recording the content to the location if the content is dynamic; and
storing the content to the location if the content is static.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the location for the recording is external to the media device.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the location for the storing is external to the media device.
4. The method of claim 1 and further comprising:
queuing the content for handling by the media device after the storing or the recording.
5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the queuing of content that is stored takes precedent in a queue order over content that is recorded.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the connecting wirelessly comprises the media device selecting one of a plurality of RF transceivers configured to wirelessly communicate with the user device.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein recording the content to the location occurs while the content is playback on the media device.
