INTERESTS AND DEMOGRAPHICS PROFILE FOR ADVANCED BROADCAST SERVICES
A digital broadcast receiver has a storage device and a processing device. The storage device is configured to store a questionnaire received from at least one service provider of a digital broadcast system, and answers to the questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises a data structure common to at least two service providers. The processing device is configured to manipulate the questionnaire and answers. The questionnaire pertains to viewer preferences, demographics, and interests (PDI) information.
1 . A method of a receiver for receiving contents, the method comprising:
downloading a table by a receiver, the table having a predefined data structure and including information related to a preference, demographic, or interest of a user;
presenting a user interface including at least one query to the user;
storing at least one reply to the at least one query in a memory of the receiver;
accessing a reply stored in the memory through an application program interface (API) of the receiver; and
filtering metadata delivered with the contents based on the reply.
2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein
the predefined data structure includes the at least one query and at least one reply format.
3 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein
the reply format is one of a string, multiple choice, checklist, and an integer.
4 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program which when executed by a computer, causes the computer to perform a method comprising:
downloading a table by a receiver, the table having a predefined data structure and including information related to a preference, demographic, or interest of a user;
presenting a user interface including at least one query to the user;
storing at least one reply to the at least one query in a memory of the receiver;
accessing a reply stored in the memory through an application program interface (API) of the receiver; and
filtering metadata delivered with the contents based on the reply.
5 . A receiver configured to receive contents, comprising:
a processor configured to
download a table having a predefined data structure, the table including information related to a preference, demographic, or interest of a user, and
present a user interface with at least one query to a user;
a memory configured to store at least one reply to the at least one query;
an application programming interface configured to access a reply stored in the memory; and
a filter configured to filter metadata delivered with the contents.
