Abstract

One exemplary aspect comprises a computer-implemented method comprising: (a) electronically receiving, from a first securities market participant, data including information related to a first order and to one or more group rankings for dissemination; (b) electronically determining with one or more processors, based on data regarding a second securities market participant and the order information and group rankings, whether the second securities market participant has a second order, on the contra side of the first order, and whether, in accordance with the group rankings, the second securities market participant is qualified to receive information about the first order; and (c) after, and only if, the second participant is determined to be qualified, transmitting information sufficient to display to the second securities market participant the information about the first order.

Claims (36)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

(a) electronically receiving an order from a first securities market participant;

(b) electronically determining with one or more processors, whether said order from said first securities market participant is on the contra side of an order from a second securities market participant; and

(c) electronically determining with one or more processors whether, based on criteria for selecting one or more counterparties, said second securities market participant is qualified to receive information about said order from said first securities market participant.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties remain the same for each of said first securities market participant's orders.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties is based on a security that said first securities market participant is attempting to trade.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said criteria include a filtering criterion based on rating profile data of potential counterparties.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein said rating profile data for each potential counterparty is based on respective ratings collected anonymously from one or more market participants that traded with the respective potential counterparty.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties include an order in which market participant groups are to receive information regarding orders of said first securities, market participant.

7. The method of claim 1 comprising:

electronically determining with one or more processors said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties.

8. The method of claim 7 comprising:

electronically displaying said determined criteria to said first securities market participant; and

providing the first securities market participant to modify said determined criteria.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties is dependent on at least (1) information relating to said second securities market participant, and (2) information relating to said order from said first securities market participant.

10. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

allowing said first securities market participant an option to prevent the transmission of information to said second securities market participant; and

transmitting information sufficient to display to said second securities market participant said information about said order from said first securities market participant in response to determining that said second securities market participant is qualified and when said first securities market participant does not elect to prevent the transmission of information to said second securities market participant.

11. A computer system comprising one or more processors programmed according to software stored in a tangible computer readable medium to:

(a) receive over a computer network, an order from a first securities market participant;

(b) determine whether said order from said first securities market participant is on the contra side of an order from a second securities market participant; and

(c) determine whether, based on criteria for selecting one or more counterparties, said second securities market participant is qualified to receive information about said order from said first securities market participant.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties remain the same for each of said first securities market participant's orders.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties is based on a security that said first securities market participant is attempting to trade.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein said criteria include a filtering criterion based on rating profile data of potential counterparties.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein said rating profile data for each potential counterparty is based on respective ratings collected anonymously from one or more market participants that traded with the respective potential counterparty.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties include an order in which market participant groups are to receive information regarding orders of said first securities market participant.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein said one or more processors are programmed to:

determine said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein said one or more processors are programmed to:

display said determined criteria to said first securities market participant; and

provide the first securities market participant to modify said determined criteria.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein said criteria for selecting one or more counterparties is dependent on at least (1) information relating to said second securities market participant, and (2) information relating to said order from said first securities market participant,

20. The system of claim 11 , wherein said one or more processors are programmed to:

allow said first securities market participant an option to prevent the transmission of information to said second securities market participant; and

transmit information sufficient to display to said second securities market participant said information about said order from said first securities market participant in response to determining that said second securities market participant is qualified and when said first market does not elect to prevent the transmission of information to said second securities market participant.
