Abstract

A wireless device transmits a first packet in subframe n of a first cell of a first cell group and transmits a second packet in subframe n+1 of a second cell of a second cell group overlapping in time with the transmission of the first packet. The wireless device reduces a subframe transmission power of at least one of the first packet and the second packet if a power parameter is more than an allowable transmission power. A calculation for the power parameter considers transmission power of the first packet and the second packet according to a pre-configured rule.

Claims (43)

1. A method comprising:

a) receiving, by a wireless device, at least one radio resource control message from a base station, said at least one radio resource control message to cause in said wireless device:

i) configuration of a plurality of cells comprising a primary cell and at least one secondary cell; and

ii) assignment of each of said at least one secondary cell to a cell group in a plurality of cell groups, each of said plurality of cell groups comprising a subset of said plurality of cells;

b) transmitting, by said wireless device, a first packet in subframe n of a first cell of a first cell group in said plurality of cell groups;

c) transmitting, by said wireless device, a second packet in subframe n+1 of a second cell of a second cell group in said plurality of cell groups, said transmitting of said second packet overlapping in time with said transmitting of said first packet; and

d) reducing, by said wireless device, a subframe transmission power of at least one of said first packet and said second packet if a power parameter is more than a maximum allowable transmission power, a calculation for said power parameter considering transmission power of said first packet and said second packet if said overlapping in time exceeds a first duration.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said calculated power parameter is a total transmission power of said wireless device.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining said first duration, by said wireless device, such that said total transmission power is less than or equal to said maximum allowable transmission power of said wireless device during said overlapping in time.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said first duration is more than twenty micro seconds.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising reducing a transient transmission power of at least one of said first packet and said second packet during said overlapping in time, said overlapping in time less than said first duration.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said total transmission power is less than or equal to said maximum allowable transmission power of said wireless device during said overlapping in time.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising said calculation considering transmission power of one of said first packet and said second packet if said overlapping in time is less than a second duration.

8. A method comprising:

a) receiving, by a wireless device, at least one radio resource control message from a base station, said at least one radio resource control message to cause in said wireless device assignment of each of at least one secondary cell in a plurality of cells to a cell group in a plurality of cell groups, each of said plurality of cell groups comprising a subset of said plurality of cells;

b) transmitting, by said wireless device, a first packet in subframe n of a first cell of a first cell group in said plurality of cell groups;

c) transmitting, by said wireless device, a second packet in subframe n+1 of a second cell of a second cell group in said plurality of cell groups, said transmitting of said second packet overlapping in time with said transmitting of said first packet; and

d) reducing, by said wireless device, a subframe transmission power of at least one of said first packet and said second packet if a power parameter is more than a maximum allowable transmission power, a calculation for said power parameter considering transmission power of said first packet and said second packet if said overlapping in time exceeds a first duration.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein said calculated power parameter is a total transmission power of said wireless device.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein said first cell group is different than said second cell group.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein said first packet is transmitted on one of:

a) a physical uplink control channel; and

b) a physical uplink shared channel.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein said second packet is transmitted on one of:

a) a physical uplink control channel; and

b) a physical uplink shared channel.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising determining said first duration, by said wireless device, such that said total transmission power is less than or equal to said maximum allowable transmission power of said wireless device during said overlapping in time.

14. A wireless device comprising:

a) one or more communication interfaces;

b) one or more processors; and

c) memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause said wireless device to:

i) receive at least one radio resource control message from a base station, said at least one radio resource control message to cause in said wireless device assignment of each of at least one secondary cell in a plurality of cells to a cell group in a plurality of cell groups, each of said plurality of cell groups comprising a subset of said plurality of cells;

ii) transmit a first packet in subframe n of a first cell of a first cell group in said plurality of cell groups;

iii) transmit a second packet in subframe n+1 of a second cell of a second cell group in said plurality of cell groups, said transmitting of said second packet overlapping in time with said transmitting of said first packet; and
