Merchandise labeling
View Patent ↗A unitary sheet-like merchandise labeling article that has a labeling tag flatly conjoined along a unifying flat bond zone with a flexible elastic layer that extends away from the tag and includes an elastic fastening loop. The loop sides that define the loop are wider than the thickness of the elastic layer. Further, the flexible elastic layer that extends away from the tag has a thickness greater than the thickness of the tag and has a dispersion zone adjacent the unifying flat bond zone. The dispersion zone allows dissipation of elastic loop in-line stretching forces sufficiently to reduce transmission of such forces into the bond zone.
1. A labeling article comprising:
a first portion having a first surface and a second surface that opposes the first surface, and an edge extending between the first and second surfaces; and
a second elastic portion derived from an elastomer material, and comprising:
a bond section bonded to the first portion along a portion of the second surface and at the edge such that the first portion and the second elastic portion are flatly conjoined;
an intermediate section integrally formed with and extending from the bond section; and
a loop section integrally formed with and extending from the intermediate section.
2. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein the second elastic portion is flush with the first surface of the first portion at the edge of the first portion.
3. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein the bond section is not bonded to the first surface of the first portion.
4. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate section has a thickness that is greater than a thickness of the bond section.
5. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein the first portion has a lateral width that is about equal to a lateral width of the bond section within the bond zone.
6. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate section comprises a dispersion section.
7. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein an intersection of the loop section and the intermediate section defines a neck indentation.
8. The labeling article of claim 1 , wherein the first surface of the first portion has an exposed surface area that is greater than an exposed surface area of the second surface of the first portion.
9. A labeling article comprising:
a tag portion having a front surface and a rear surface, and an edge extending between the front and rear surfaces; and
an elastic portion having a front side, and further comprising:
a bond section, wherein the front side of the elastic portion is secured to the rear surface of the tag portion at the bond section;
an intermediate section extending from the bond section, wherein the front side of the elastic portion steps along the edge of the tag portion such that the front side of the elastic portion at the intermediate section is flush with the front surface of the tag portion; and
a loop section extending from the intermediate section.
10. The labeling article of claim 9 , wherein the bond section, the intermediate section, and the loop section are integrally connected and derived from an elastomer material.
11. The labeling article of claim 9 , wherein the bond section is not bonded to the front surface of the tag portion.
12. The labeling article of claim 9 , wherein the elastic portion further has a rear side that is not flush with the rear surface of the tag portion.
13. The labeling article of claim 9 , wherein the intermediate section comprises a dispersion section.
14. The labeling article of claim 9 , wherein an intersection of the loop section and the intermediate section defines a neck indentation.
15. A labeling article comprising:
a non-elastic portion having a first surface and a second surface that opposes the first surface, and an edge extending between the first and second surfaces; and
an elastic portion comprising:
a bond section secured to the second surface of the non-elastic portion in a coextensive manner;
a shoulder section extending from the bond section, wherein the elastic portion is disposed adjacent to the edge of the non-elastic portion at an intersection of the bond section and the shoulder section; and
a loop section extending from the shoulder section.
16. The labeling article of claim 15 , wherein the elastic portion at the shoulder section is flush with the first surface of the non-elastic portion.
17. The labeling article of claim 15 , wherein an intersection of the shoulder section and the loop section defines a neck indentation.
18. The labeling article of claim 15 , wherein the shoulder section has a lateral width that is about equal to a lateral width of the non-elastic portion.
19. The labeling article of claim 15 , wherein the bond section, the shoulder section, and the loop section are integrally connected and derived from an elastomer material.
20. The labeling article of claim 15 , wherein the first surface of the non-elastic portion has an exposed surface area that is greater than an exposed surface area of the second surface of the non-elastic portion.
