Abstract

A jump form system provided variously with an integral jump shoe lock mechanism, a reversible gang form shear platform, and a pinion lock mechanism for a roll back carriage. The jump shoe lock mechanism includes a lever pivotably mounted to the jump form system frame above a jump shoe bearing portion of a connecting member, a sleeve mounted to the jump form system frame below the jump shoe bearing portion of the connecting member, and a sleeve-mounted safety pin that is mechanically linked to the lever for engagement and disengagement with a jump shoe. The pinion lock mechanism includes a rack and pinion provided on inner and outer portions of a telescoping carriage assembly, respectively, and a lock arm pivotably mounted to the outer portion adjacent to the pinion, with the rack, pinion, and lock arm including complementary teeth which are locked into place upon pivoting engagement of the locking arm.

Claims (48)

1. A jump form system provided with a lockable roll back carriage assembly, the assembly comprising:

a rack affixed to an inner portion of a telescoping roll back carriage assembly;

a pinion rotatably mounted on an outer portion of the telescoping roll back carriage assembly for engagement with the rack; and

a lock arm pivotably mounted to the outer portion adjacent to the pinion, the lock arm comprising a proximal pivotable connection, a distal aperture or loop, and teeth disposed therebetween for lockable engagement with the pinion;

wherein the rack and the pinion include complementary teeth such that the pinion will be locked into place on the rack when the lock arm is pivoted into engagement with the pinion.

2. The jump form system of claim 1 , wherein, with the jump form system secured to and oriented with respect to a vertical wall:

the outer portion of the telescoping roll back carriage assembly is connected to a horizontal bearing member of the jump form system for rolling, telescopic movement over the inner portion;

the rack is affixed to an upper surface of the inner portion opposite the horizontal bearing member; and

the pinion and lock arm are mounted adjacent an upper surface of the outer portion opposite the horizontal bearing member.

3. The jump form system of claim 1 , wherein:

the outer portion of the telescoping roll back carriage assembly includes an aperture or through hole; and

the aperture or through hole of the outer portion and the aperture or loop of the lock arm are configured to align with each other when the lock arm engages the pinion and to disalign with each other when the lock arm is disengaged from the pinion.

4. The jump form system of claim 3 , further comprising:

a securement removably positionable in the aligned aperture or through hole of the outer portion and aperture or loop of the lock arm, wherein the securement must be removed from the aligned elements to disengage the teeth of the lock arm from the teeth of the pinion.

5. The jump form system of claim 3 , wherein:

the aperture or through hole of the outer portion has an inner diameter;

the aperture or loop of the lock arm has approximately the same inner diameter;

wherein the aperture or through hole of the outer portion and the aperture or loop of the lock arm form a contiguous channel for receiving a pin when so aligned.

6. The jump form system of claim 5 , further comprising:

a pin having an outer diameter approximately the same as the inner diameter, the pin being removably positionable in the aligned aperture or through hole of the outer portion and aperture or loop of the lock arm.

7. The jump form system of claim 1 , wherein:

the pinion is rotatably coupled to a shaft including a protruding and laterally enlarged head;

the head is accessible to a socket tool for operation of the roll back carriage assembly.

8. The jump form system of claim 1 , wherein:

the pinion is mounted to directly engage the rack; and

the lock arm is pivotable to directly engage the pinion.

9. A jump form system comprising:

a jump form system frame including a horizontal work platform bearing member, a vertical frame member, and a diagonal frame member collectively forming a truss for suspension from a vertical wall;

a roll back carriage including an inner roll back carriage assembly, an outer roll back carriage assembly adapted to roll along the horizontal work platform bearing member, a rack affixed to the inner roll back carriage assembly, and a pinion rotatably mounted to the outer roll back carriage assembly for engagement with the rack; and

a lock arm pivotably mounted to the outer roll back carriage assembly adjacent to the pinion, the lock arm comprising a proximal pivotable connection, a distal aperture or loop, and teeth disposed therebetween for lockable engagement with the pinion;

wherein the rack and the pinion include complementary teeth such that the pinion will be locked into place on the rack when the lock arm is pivoted into engagement with the pinion.

10. The jump form system of claim 9 , wherein:

the outer roll back carriage assembly includes an aperture or through hole; and

the aperture or through hole of the outer roll back carriage assembly and the aperture or loop of the lock arm are configured to align with each other when the lock arm engages the pinion and to disalign with each other when the lock arm is disengaged from the pinion.

11. The jump form system of claim 10 , further comprising:

a securement removably positionable in the aligned aperture or through hole of the outer roll back carriage assembly and aperture or loop of the lock arm, wherein the securement must be removed from the aligned elements to disengage the teeth of the lock arm from the teeth of the pinion.

12. The jump form system of claim 10 , wherein:

the aperture or through hole of the outer roll back carriage assembly has an inner diameter;

the aperture or loop of the lock arm has approximately the same inner diameter;

wherein the aperture or through hole of the outer roll back carriage assembly and the aperture or loop of the lock arm form a contiguous channel for receiving a pin when so aligned.

13. The jump form system of claim 12 , further comprising:

a pin having an outer diameter approximately the same as the inner diameter, the pin being removably positionable in the aligned aperture or through hole of the outer roll back carriage assembly and aperture or loop of the lock arm.

14. The jump form system of claim 9 , wherein:

the pinion is rotatably coupled to a shaft including a protruding and laterally enlarged head;

the head is accessible to a socket tool for operation of the roll back carriage assembly.

15. The jump form system of claim 9 , wherein:

the pinion is mounted to directly engage the rack; and

the lock arm is pivotable to directly engage the pinion.
