Abstract

A computer system is described for automatically generating a three-dimensional model of a structure. The computer system includes hardware and one or more non-transitory computer readable medium accessible by the hardware and storing instructions that when executed by the hardware cause the hardware to: locate multiple oblique images containing a real façade texture of a structure having a geographical position from one or more database of oblique images; select a base oblique image from the multiple oblique images by analyzing, with selection logic, image raster content of the real façade texture depicted in the multiple oblique images, the selection logic using a factorial analysis of the image raster content; and, relate the real façade texture of the base oblique image to the three dimensional model to provide a real-life representation of physical characteristics of the structure within the three-dimensional model.

Claims (31)

1. A computer system for automatically generating a three-dimensional model of a structure, comprising:

hardware; and

one or more non-transitory computer readable medium accessible by the hardware and storing instructions that when executed by the hardware cause the hardware to:

locate multiple oblique images containing a real façade texture of a structure having a geographical position from one or more database of oblique images;

select a base oblique image from the multiple oblique images by analyzing, with selection logic, image raster content of the real façade texture depicted in the multiple oblique images, the selection logic using a factorial analysis of the image raster content; and,

relate the real façade texture of the base oblique image to the three-dimensional model to provide a real-life representation of physical characteristics of the structure within the three-dimensional model.

2. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more non-transitory computer readable medium stores instructions that when executed by the hardware causes the hardware to:

analyze the real façade texture depicted within the base oblique image to locate a geographical position of at least one occlusion;

locating at least one oblique image having an unoccluded image characteristic of the occlusion in the real façade texture from the database of oblique images; and,

applying the unoccluded image characteristic to the real façade texture forming a mosaic image.

3. The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the instructions are configured to use pixel pattern recognition of the real façade texture to locate the occlusion.

4. The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the oblique images are geo-referenced solved oblique images.

5. The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the instructions are configured to remove the occlusion from the real façade texture.

6. The computer system of claim 1 , further comprising instructions that when executed by the hardware cause the hardware to extract the real façade texture from the base oblique image, the real façade texture having geo-referenced information.

7. A computer system, comprising:

hardware; and

one or more non-transitory computer readable medium accessible by the hardware and storing instructions that when executed by the hardware cause the hardware to:

obtain a geographical position of at least a roof of a structure in a three-dimensional model of the structure;

locate multiple images containing a real façade texture of the roof of the structure having the geographical position from one or more database of images;

select a base image from the multiple images by analyzing, with selection logic, image raster content of the real façade texture depicted in the multiple images, the selection logic using a factorial analysis of the image raster content; and,

relate the real façade texture of the roof depicted in the base image to the three-dimensional model to provide a real-life representation of physical characteristics of the roof.

8. The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the multiple images containing the real façade texture of the roof are nadir images.

9. The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the multiple images containing the real façade texture of the roof are oblique images.

10. The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the multiple images containing the real façade texture of the roof are nadir images and oblique images.

11. The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the base image contains a greater proportion of pixels associated with the roof as compared with another image of the multiple images.

12. The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the multiple images are geo-referenced solved oblique images.

13. The computer system of claim 7 , further comprising instructions configured to correct misalignment of the real façade texture.

14. The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the instructions configured to correct misalignment include an edge-detection algorithm.

The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the instructions to relate the real façade texture of the roof depicted in the base image to the three-dimensional model when executed by the hardware, further comprise instructions to provide for at least one of user evaluation and user manipulation of the real façade texture.

The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the real façade texture includes overlapping structures having a geometry, and wherein the instructions, when executed by the hardware cause the hardware to analyze the geometry of the overlapping structures to determine whether the overlapping structures are occlusions or desirable features of the real façade texture.

17. The computer system of claim 16 , wherein a first overlapping structure of the overlapping structures is a roof structure.
