Abstract

Structures and protocols are presented for signaling a status or decision concerning a wireless service or device within a region to a communication device (smartphone or wearable device, e.g.) or other wireless communication participant (motor vehicle having a wireless communication capability, e.g.).

Claims (120)

1 . A communication management system comprising:

one or more articles of manufacture including

a first transistor-based circuit configured to obtain an identification of an unlocked communication device, the unlocked communication device being a first mobile device, the first transistor-based circuit including a first electrical node set upon which a first voltage configuration manifests the identification of the unlocked communication device;

a second transistor-based circuit configured to obtain an indication of an account associated with a second mobile device;

a third transistor-based circuit configured to signal a decision whether or not to post a cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had access to wireless local area network (WLAN) service and partly based on a communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device;

a fourth transistor-based circuit configured to obtain a first location estimate describing a first location of the unlocked communication device by receiving the first location estimate from the unlocked communication device; and

a fifth transistor-based circuit configured to obtain first provenance data indicating a protocol by which the unlocked communication device apparently obtained the first location estimate by receiving the first provenance data from the unlocked communication device.

2 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the second transistor-based circuit including a second electrical node set upon which a second voltage configuration manifests the indication of the account associated with the second mobile device;

the third transistor-based circuit including a third electrical node set upon which a third voltage configuration manifests the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device;

the fourth transistor-based circuit including a fourth electrical node set upon which a fourth voltage configuration manifests the first location estimate describing the first location of the unlocked communication device; and

the fifth transistor-based circuit including a fifth electrical node set upon which a fifth voltage configuration manifests the first provenance data indicating the protocol by which the unlocked communication device apparently obtained the first location estimate.

3 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the second mobile device.

4 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

a third mobile device configured to indicate some or all of a wireless connectivity map, the wireless connectivity map indicating the WLAN service being provided within a region as a response to an indication from the unlocked communication device of the WLAN service being operative within the region.

5 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

a third mobile device configured to indicate some of a wireless connectivity map indicating WLAN service provided within a region as a response to an indication from the unlocked communication device of the WLAN service being operative or not within the region.

6 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

a wearable assembly comprising the unlocked communication device.

7 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the second mobile device, configured to generate an audible indication of whether or not the unlocked communication device is available to participate in a bidirectional interpersonal communication conditionally, partly based on an indication whether or not the unlocked communication device exceeded a wireless service boundary crossing rate threshold within a recent time interval and partly based on an indication of the unlocked communication device having the WLAN service.

8 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision by authorizing the cost component to be posted to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, responsive to the unlocked communication device losing the access to the WLAN service during the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

9 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

a sixth transistor-based circuit configured to handoff the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device from a WLAN access point to a cellular base station conditionally, responsive to the unlocked communication device losing the access to the WLAN service during the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

10 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

a sixth transistor-based circuit configured to cause the unlocked communication device to indicate some of a wireless connectivity map visibly.

11 . The communication management system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a third mobile device being a wearable assembly configured to present an audible notification of a boundary of the WLAN service.

12 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to signal a decision whether or not to adjust a latency threshold for user data.

15 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to display via the unlocked communication device at least some of a wireless connectivity map depicting a cost-indicative service boundary relating to a prospective intercommunication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

17 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to cause a data component of a wireless signal to be processed by a special-purpose module in the second mobile device as an automatic and conditional response to a control component of the wireless signal.

18 . A communication management system comprising:

one or more articles of manufacture including

a first transistor-based circuit configured to obtain an identification of an unlocked communication device, the unlocked communication device being a first mobile device;

a second transistor-based circuit configured to obtain an indication of an account associated with a second mobile device; and

a third transistor-based circuit configured to signal a decision whether or not to post a cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had access to wireless local area network (WLAN) service and partly based on a communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

19 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

an integrated circuit (IC) chip, the IC chip having a first portion and a second portion and a third portion, the first portion of the IC chip being the first transistor-based circuit configured to obtain the identification of the unlocked communication device, the second portion of the IC chip being the second transistor-based circuit configured to obtain the indication of the account associated with the second mobile device, the third portion of the IC chip being the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

24 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the unlocked communication device, comprising a jailbroken communication device.

25 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

a wearable assembly comprising the second mobile device, the wearable assembly configured to indicate some or all of a wireless connectivity map after a decision whether or not to update the wireless connectivity map automatically and conditionally partly based on a first location estimate describing a first location of the unlocked communication device and partly based on first provenance data indicating a protocol by which the unlocked communication device apparently obtained the first location estimate.

28 . The communication management system of claim 18 , further comprising:

a fourth transistor-based circuit, configured to obtain a first location estimate describing a first location of the unlocked communication device by receiving the first location estimate from the unlocked communication device; and

a fifth transistor-based circuit, configured to obtain first provenance data indicating a protocol by which the unlocked communication device apparently obtained the first location estimate by receiving the first provenance data from the unlocked communication device.

29 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision by authorizing the cost component to be posted to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, responsive to the unlocked communication device losing the access to the WLAN service during the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

34 . The communication management system of claim 18 , further comprising:

a third mobile device being a wearable assembly configured to present an audible notification of a boundary of the WLAN service.

36 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry in the second mobile device configured to compare a data block delivery failure rate against a threshold.

40 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to cause a data component of a wireless signal to be processed by a special-purpose module in a handheld device as an automatic and conditional response to a thermal state of a temperature sensor in the handheld device, the handheld device being the second mobile device.

46 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to cause a configurable core in a first core operating mode to draw from a first data queue of the second mobile device; and

transistor-based circuitry configured to signal a decision whether or not to cause the configurable core to draw from the first data queue of the second mobile device in a second core operating mode as an automatic and conditional response to a charging state of a battery in the second mobile device.

49 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to cause the unlocked communication device to indicate a boundary of a wireless connectivity map depicting a present location of the unlocked communication device and including automatically curated map data.

54 . A communication management system comprising:

one or more articles of manufacture including

means for obtaining an identification of an unlocked communication device, the unlocked communication device being a first mobile device;

means for obtaining an indication of an account associated with a second mobile device; and

means for signaling a decision whether or not to post a cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had access to wireless local area network (WLAN) service and partly based on a communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

71 . A communication management method comprising:

obtaining a first preference indication via a first mobile device, the first preference indication being either a first option or a second option, an account being associated with the first mobile device;

obtaining an identification of an unlocked communication device, the unlocked communication device being a first mobile device;

obtaining an indication of an account associated with a second mobile device; and

invoking a transistor-based circuit configured to signal a decision whether or not to post a cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had access to wireless local area network (WLAN) service and partly based on a communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

88 . An article of manufacture comprising:

one or more physical media configured to bear a device-detectable implementation of a method including at least

obtaining an identification of an unlocked communication device, the unlocked communication device being a first mobile device;

obtaining an indication of an account associated with a second mobile device; and

signaling a decision whether or not to post a cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had access to wireless local area network (WLAN) service and partly based on a communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

90 . The communication management system of claim 1 further comprising:

the unlocked communication device, comprising a jailbroken communication device; and

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to signal a decision whether or not to adjust a latency threshold for user data; and

transistor-based circuitry configured to display via the unlocked communication device at least some of a wireless connectivity map depicting a cost-indicative service boundary relating to a prospective intercommunication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

91 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the unlocked communication device, comprising a jailbroken communication device; and

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to signal a decision whether or not to adjust a latency threshold for user data; and

transistor-based circuitry configured to display via the unlocked communication device at least some of a wireless connectivity map depicting a cost-indicative service boundary relating to a prospective intercommunication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.

92 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

the second mobile device, configured to generate an audible indication of whether or not the unlocked communication device is available to participate in a bidirectional interpersonal communication conditionally, partly based on an indication whether or not the unlocked communication device exceeded a wireless service boundary crossing rate threshold within a recent time interval and partly based on an indication of the unlocked communication device having the WLAN service; and

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to cause a data component of a wireless signal to be processed by a special-purpose module in a handheld device as an automatic and conditional response to a thermal state of a temperature sensor in the handheld device, the handheld device being the second mobile device.

93 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

a third mobile device being a wearable assembly configured to present an audible notification of a boundary of the WLAN service; and

the third transistor-based circuit configured to signal the decision whether or not to post the cost component to the account associated with the second mobile device conditionally, partly based on whether the unlocked communication device had the access to the WLAN service or not and partly based on the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device, including

transistor-based circuitry configured to cause a data component of a wireless signal to be processed by a special-purpose module in a handheld device as an automatic and conditional response to a thermal state of a temperature sensor in the handheld device, the handheld device being the second mobile device.

94 . The communication management system of claim 18 further comprising:

a fourth transistor-based circuit configured to obtain a first location estimate describing a first location of the unlocked communication device by receiving the first location estimate from the unlocked communication device;

a fifth transistor-based circuit configured to obtain first provenance data indicating a protocol by which the unlocked communication device apparently obtained the first location estimate by receiving the first provenance data from the unlocked communication device; and

a sixth transistor-based circuit configured to handoff the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device from a WLAN access point to a cellular base station conditionally, responsive to the unlocked communication device losing the access to the WLAN service during the communication at least between the unlocked communication device and the second mobile device.
