Abstract

Embodiments of methods and systems are provided that allow a user to upload inventories, view inventories in the proximity of the user, and/or facilitate transactions over a user device in a simple manner. In an embodiment, a method for transactions comprises loading, by a server at a remote location, an application on a user device of a user, wherein the application allows the user to upload an inventory comprising one or more items and/or services offered for sale by the user, as well as to view on the user device other inventory offered for sale by one or more other users as the user comes into proximity of the one or more other users, and wherein an inventory list maintained at the user device is constantly updated with the other inventory viewed by the user device. The method also comprises receiving, by the server at the remote location, transaction information associated with conducting a transaction in connection with the inventory list over the user device. The method further comprises facilitating, by the server at the remote location, the transaction between the user via the user device and the one or more other users.

Claims (63)

1. A system, comprising:

a non-transitory memory storing instructions; and

one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read the instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations to establish an ad-hoc network, the operations comprising:

offering, at least in part via a first device, a first list of items for sale by a user of the first device;

detecting, via the first device, that the first device is within a BLUETOOTH range of, or in WiFi communication with, a second device of a first seller;

obtaining, by the first device from the second device and in response to the detecting, a second list of items that are offered for sale by the first seller; and

generating a third list of items, the third list of items including items on the first list and items on the second list.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first device comprises a smartphone.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the items offered for sale comprise services.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

filtering out at least one item on the first list; and

displaying a filtered third list based on the filtering.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: making the third list of items accessible at least in part via the first device.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

detecting, via the first device, that the first device is within a BLUETOOTH range of, or in WiFi communication with, a third device of a second seller;

obtaining, by the first device from the third device and in response to the detecting that the first device is within the BLUETOOTH range of, or in WiFi communication with, the third device, a fourth list of items that are offered for sale by the second seller; and

updating the third list of items to include items that are on the fourth list but were not on the first list or the second list.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: communicating the third list to the second device of the first seller.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving, by the first device, information about an item offered for sale by a second seller, the information including a photograph of the item at a first resolution;

receiving, from the user, a request to obtain updated information regarding the item offered for sale by the second seller; and

communicating, via the first device, directions to navigate the user to the second seller.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise:

detecting, via the first device, that the first device is within a BLUETOOTH range of, or in WiFi communication with, a third device of the second seller; and

acquiring, on the first device, the updated information regarding the item in response to the detecting that the first device is within the BLUETOOTH range of, or in WiFi communication with, the third device, the updated information including the photograph of the item at a second resolution that is higher than the first resolution.

10. A method, comprising:

establishing an ad-hoc-like network having items for sale, the establishing comprising:

offering, at least in part via a first device, a first list of items for sale by a user of the first device;

detecting, via the first device, that the first device is within a WiFi range or a BLUETOOTH range of a second device of a first seller;

obtaining, by the first device from the second device and in response to the detecting, a second list of items that are offered for sale by the first seller; and

generating a third list of items, the third list of items including items on the first list and items on the second list.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the first device comprises a smartphone.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the items offered for sale comprise goods.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein the establishing further comprises:

filtering out at least one item on the first list; and

displaying a filtered third list based on the filtering.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein the establishing further comprises: making the third list of items accessible at least in part via the first device.

15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the establishing further comprises:

detecting, via the first device, that the first device is within a WiFi range or a BLUETOOTH range of a third device of a second seller;

obtaining, by the first device from the third device and in response to the detecting that the first device is within the WiFi range or the BLUETOOTH range of the third device, a fourth list of items that are offered for sale by the second seller; and

updating the third list of items to include items that are on the fourth list but were not on the first list or the second list.

16. The method of claim 10 , wherein the establishing further comprises: communicating the third list to the second device of the first seller.

17. The method of claim 10 , wherein the establishing further comprises:

receiving, by the first device, information about an item offered for sale by a second seller, the information including a photograph of the item at a first resolution;

receiving, from the user, a request to obtain updated information regarding the item offered for sale by the second seller; and

communicating, via the first device, directions to navigate the user to the second seller.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the establishing further comprises:

detecting, via the first device, that the first device is within a WiFi range or a BLUETOOTH range of a third device of a second seller; and

acquiring, on the first device, the updated information regarding the item in response to the detecting that the first device is within the WiFi range or the BLUETOOTH range of the third device, the updated information including the photograph of the item at a second resolution that is higher than the first resolution.

19. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:

providing, at least in part via a first device, a first list of goods or services offered by a user of the first device, the first device comprising a smartphone;

detecting that the first device is within a WiFi hotspot or within a BLUETOOTH range of a second device of a first seller;

obtaining, by the first device from the second device and in response to the detecting, a second list of goods or services that are offered by the first seller;

generating a third list of goods or services, the third list of goods or services including goods or services on the first list and on the second list;

communicating the third list of goods or services to the second device of the first seller;

filtering out at least one item on the first list; and

displaying, on the first device, a filtered third list based on the filtering.
