Abstract

A dialysis fluid pressure manifold system includes a plurality of pump and valve chambers controlling a flow of dialysis fluid; a header including a plurality of pneumatic passageways, each passageway in pneumatic communication with one of the pump or valve chambers; a plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves; and a plate defining a plurality of pneumatic apertures, each pneumatic aperture in pneumatic communication with one of the plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves, the plate providing the apertures each with an o-ring seal for airtight connection with the pneumatic passageways of the header.

Claims (38)

1. A dialysis fluid pressure manifold system comprising:

a plurality of pump and valve chambers controlling a flow of dialysis fluid;

a header including a plurality of pneumatic passageways, each passageway in pneumatic communication with one of the pump or valve chambers;

a plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves; and

a plate defining a plurality of pneumatic apertures, each pneumatic aperture in pneumatic communication with one of the plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves, the plate providing each of the apertures with an o-ring seal for airtight connection with the pneumatic passageways of the header,

wherein the header is connected to a first side of the plate, and wherein a second side of the plate defines a plurality of internal pneumatic grooves in fluid communication with the plurality of apertures defined by the plate.

2. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein the pump and valve chambers include pneumatically controlled flexible membranes.

3. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of pneumatic passageways of the header are in pneumatic communication with the pump and valve chambers via pneumatic flow paths leading from the passageways to the pump and valve chambers.

4. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 3 , wherein the pneumatic flow paths are formed by pneumatic tubing.

5. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , which includes at least one fastener for removably holding the header to the plate to compress each of the o-ring seals.

6. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 5 , wherein the at least one fastener includes at least one screw.

7. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein the apertures are accompanied by o-ring grooves defined by the plate for receiving the o-ring seals.

8. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of internal pneumatic grooves place the pneumatic passageways of the header in fluid communication with the plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves.

9. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein each pneumatic aperture is in pneumatic communication with one of the plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves via one of the plurality of internal pneumatic grooves.

10. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein each of the internal pneumatic grooves is enclosed by a bottom plate.

11. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 10 , which includes a gasket sheet between the plate and the bottom plate.

12. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 1 , wherein the header is a first header, and which includes a second header including a second plurality of pneumatic passageways in airtight connection with the plate.

13. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 12 , wherein the second plurality of pneumatic passageways are in fluid communication with a plurality of pressure transducers.

14. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 12 , wherein the plate defines a plurality of second pneumatic apertures, each second pneumatic aperture in pneumatic communication with one of a second plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves, the plate providing each of the second apertures with an o-ring seal for airtight connection with one of the second pneumatic passageways of the second header.

15. The dialysis fluid pressure manifold system of claim 14 , wherein the second apertures are accompanied by second o-ring grooves defined by the plate for receiving the o-ring seals.

16. A dialysis fluid pressure manifold system comprising:

a plurality of pump and valve chambers controlling a flow of dialysis fluid;

a header including a plurality of pneumatic passageways, each passageway in pneumatic communication with one of the pump or valve chambers;

a plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves;

a plate defining a plurality of pneumatic apertures, each pneumatic aperture in pneumatic communication with one of the plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves, the plate providing each of the apertures with an o-ring seal for airtight connection with the pneumatic passageways of the header; and

at least one fastener for removably holding the header to the plate to compress each of the o-ring seals, the at least one fastener including at least one screw.

17. A dialysis fluid pressure manifold system comprising:

a plurality of pump and valve chambers controlling a flow of dialysis fluid;

a first header including a plurality of pneumatic passageways, each passageway in pneumatic communication with one of the pump or valve chambers;

a plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves;

a plate defining a plurality of pneumatic apertures, each pneumatic aperture in pneumatic communication with one of the plurality of electrically actuated pneumatic valves, the plate providing each of the apertures with an o-ring seal for airtight connection with the pneumatic passageways of the header; and

a second header including a second plurality of pneumatic passageways in airtight connection with the plate, wherein the second plurality of pneumatic passageways are in fluid communication with a plurality of pressure transducers.

18. A dialysis fluid pressure manifold system comprising:

a plurality of pump and valve chambers controlling a flow of dialysis fluid;

a first header including a plurality of first pneumatic passageways, each first pneumatic passageway in pneumatic communication with one of the pump or valve chambers;

a plurality of first electrically actuated pneumatic valves;

a plate defining a plurality of first pneumatic apertures and a plurality of second pneumatic apertures, each first pneumatic aperture in pneumatic communication with one of the plurality of first electrically actuated pneumatic valves, the plate providing each of the first apertures with an o-ring seal for airtight connection with the plurality of first pneumatic passageways of the first header; and
