Abstract

Systems, methods, and machine-readable media are described for retrieving data associated with files using input data files. Embodiments include generating input data files, which can be transformed to create data objects from input data of the input data files. The input data and the corresponding data objects can include information regarding files, such as the universal resource indicator (URI) of a file. The data objects can then be stored.

Claims (54)

1. A system comprising one or more computer servers configured to:

receive, via a user interface, mapping information for mapping one or more data elements of input data to one or more data elements of a data object;

generate transform information for creating the data object by transforming the input data into the data object, based on the mapping information;

store the transform information;

obtain a universal resource indicator (URI) of an input data file, the input data file comprising an electronic file having the input data;

use the URI of the input data file to automatically obtain the input data file;

obtain the input data from the input data file;

use the transform information and the input data to generate the data object; and

store the data object;

wherein the one or more computer servers are further configured to, subsequent to storing the data object:

examine the input data file;

determine, from the input data file, that the input data has changed; and

update the data object to reflect a change in the input data.

2. The system recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more data elements of the data object have a different name than the one or more data elements of the input data to which the one or more data elements of the data object are mapped.

3. The system recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more data elements of the data object comprise a subset of the one or more data elements of the input data.

4. The system recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer servers are further configured to:

receive a file associated with the data object; and

store the file.

5. The system recited in claim 4 , wherein

the file comprises a media asset; and

the one or more computer servers are further configured to transcode the media asset.

6. A method for retrieving data associated with media assets using input data files and generating data objects with the data, the method comprising:

receiving, via a user interface, mapping information for mapping one or more data elements of input data to one or more data elements of a data object;

generating, using a processor, transform information for creating the data object by transforming the input data into the data object, based on the mapping information;

storing the transform information;

obtaining a universal resource indicator (URI) of an input data file, the input data file comprising an electronic file having the input data;

using the URI of the input data file to automatically obtain the input data file;

obtaining the input data from the input data file;

using the transform information and the input data to generate the data object;

storing the data object, and

subsequent to storing the data object:

examining the input data file;

determining, from the input data file, that the input data has changed; and

updating the data object to reflect a change in the input data.

7. The method recited in claim 6 , wherein the one or more data elements of the data object have a different name than the one or more data elements of the input data to which the one or more data elements of the data object are mapped.

8. The method recited in claim 6 , further comprising receiving a media asset associated with the data object.

9. The method recited in claim 8 , further comprising transcoding the media asset, wherein the data object includes a URI of the transcoded media asset.

10. The method recited in claim 6 , further comprising receiving and storing a media asset associated with the data object.

11. One or more non-transitory machine-readable media having a set of instructions stored thereon for retrieving and processing data associated with media assets using input data files, the instructions, when executed by one or more machines, causing the one or more machines to:

receive, via a user interface, mapping information for mapping one or more data elements of input data to one or more data elements of a data object;

generate transform information for creating the data object by transforming the input data into the data object, based on the mapping information;

store the transform information;

obtain a universal resource indicator (URI) of an input data file, the input data file comprising an electronic file having the input data;

use the URI of the input data file to automatically obtain the input data file;

obtain the input data from the input data file;

use the transform information and the input data to generate the data object;

store the data object, and

subsequent to storing the data object:

examine the input data file;

determine, from the input data file, that the input data has changed; and

update the data object to reflect a change in the input data.

12. The one or more machine-readable media recited in claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more machines to receive a media asset associated with the data object.

13. The one or more machine-readable media recited in claim 12 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more machines to transcode the media asset.

14. The one or more machine-readable media recited in claim 13 wherein the instructions for using the transform information and the input data to generate the data object further include instructions for including a URI of the transcoded media asset in the data object.
