FEEDER BELT FOR TRUE MULTI-FIRE SURGICAL STAPLER
An exemplary surgical apparatus may include a feeder belt configured as a continuous loop; staples fixed to and shearable from the continuous feeder belt; apertures defined in the continuous feeder belt; and a gear positioned at the distal end of the feeder belt within the continuous loop, where the gear engages at least one of the apertures to move the continuous feeder belt around the gear. Another exemplary surgical apparatus may include a feeder belt; a plurality of staples fixed to and shearable from the continuous feeder belt; and a plurality of teeth defined on the continuous feeder belt. Another exemplary surgical apparatus may include a continuous belt assembly that has a flexible rack with two ends, and a feeder belt with two ends, each end of the feeder belt connected to a corresponding end of the flexible rack; and staples fixed to and shearable from the continuous feeder belt.
1 . A surgical apparatus, comprising:
a feeder belt configured as a continuous loop;
staples fixed to and shearable from a flexible rack coupled to said continuous feeder belt;
a gear positioned at the distal end of said feeder belt within said continuous loop, wherein said gear engages with at least one tooth of said flexible rack to move said continuous feeder belt around said gear.
2 . The surgical apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said gear includes a plurality of teeth.
3 . The surgical apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said staples are arranged along substantially an entire length of said flexible rack.
4 . A surgical apparatus, comprising:
a feeder belt; and
a plurality of staples fixed to and shearable from a flexible rack coupled to said feeder belt.
5 . The surgical apparatus of claim 4 , wherein said feeder belt is a continuous loop.
6 . The surgical apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the flexible rack comprises of plurality of teeth.
7 . The surgical apparatus of claim 6 , further comprising at least one gear having at least one gear tooth; wherein said at least one gear tooth defined on said gear engages at least one said tooth defined on said rack to drive said feeder belt around said gear.
8 . A surgical apparatus, comprising:
a flexible rack configured as a continuous loop;
staples fixed to and shearable from said flexible rack;
a gear positioned at the distal end of said flexible rack within said continuous loop, wherein said gear engages with at least one tooth of said flexible rack to move said flexible rack around said gear.
9 . The surgical apparatus of claim 8 , wherein said gear includes a plurality of teeth.
10 . The surgical apparatus of claim 8 , wherein said staples are arranged along substantially an entire length of said flexible rack.
