Abstract

Establishing a multimodal advertising personality for a sponsor of a multimodal application, including associating one or more vocal demeanors with a sponsor of a multimodal application and presenting a speech portion of the multimodal application for the sponsor using at least one of the vocal demeanors associated with the sponsor.

Claims (34)

1. A method, comprising:

selecting, using a processor, a visual demeanor and/or a vocal demeanor for presentation of a content provider's content via a multimodal application by considering at least whether a user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application, the user differing from the content provider; and

presenting the content provider's content to the user using the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor that is selected,

wherein selecting the visual demeanor comprises selecting from the group consisting of colors, fonts, and selection and placement of graphic elements, and

wherein selecting the vocal demeanor comprises selecting from the group consisting of speech rate, voice family, pitch, pitch range, stress and richness.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, prior to selecting the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor, directly determining whether the user is a repeat user of the multimodal application.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting the visual demeanor.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting the vocal demeanor.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting both the visual demeanor and the vocal demeanor.

The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor for presentation of the content provider's content via the multimodal application by considering at least whether the user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application comprises considering, in addition to whether the user is a repeat user, gender of the user.

The method of claim 6 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor for presentation of the content provider's content via the multimodal application by considering at least whether the user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application comprises considering, in addition to whether the user is a repeat user and the gender of the user, location of the user.

8. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a computer recordable medium operatively coupled to the processor, the computer recordable medium storing computer program instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

selecting, using the processor, a visual demeanor and/or a vocal demeanor for presentation of a content provider's content via a multimodal application by considering at least whether a user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application, the user differing from the content provider; and

presenting the content provider's content to the user using the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor that is selected,

wherein selecting the visual demeanor comprises selecting from the group consisting of colors, fonts, and selection and placement of graphic elements, and

wherein selecting the vocal demeanor comprises selecting from the group consisting of speech rate, voice family, pitch, pitch range, stress and richness.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the method further comprises, prior to selecting the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor, directly determining whether the user is a repeat user of the multimodal application.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the method comprising selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting the visual demeanor.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the method comprising selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting the vocal demeanor.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the method comprising selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting both the visual demeanor and the vocal demeanor.

The system of claim 8 , wherein the method comprising selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor for presentation of the content provider's content via the multimodal application by considering at least whether the user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application comprises considering, in addition to whether the user is a repeat user, gender of the user.

The system of claim 13 , wherein the method comprising selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor for presentation of the content provider's content via the multimodal application by considering at least whether the user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application comprises considering, in addition to whether the user is a repeat user and the gender of the user, location of the user.

15. A non-transitory computer recordable medium comprising computer program instructions which, when executed, cause performance of a method comprising:

selecting, using a processor, a visual demeanor and/or a vocal demeanor for presentation of a content provider's content via a multimodal application by considering at least whether a user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application, the user differing from the content provider; and

presenting the content provider's content to the user using the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor that is selected,

wherein selecting the visual demeanor comprises selecting from the group consisting of colors, fonts, and selection and placement of graphic elements, and

wherein selecting the vocal demeanor comprises selecting from the group consisting of speech rate, voice family, pitch, pitch range, stress and richness.

16. The non-transitory computer recordable medium of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises, prior to selecting the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor, directly determining whether the user is a repeat user of the multimodal application.

17. The non-transitory computer recordable medium of claim 15 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting the visual demeanor.

18. The non-transitory computer recordable medium of claim 15 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor comprises selecting the vocal demeanor.

19. The non-transitory computer recordable medium of claim 15 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor for presentation of the content provider's content via the multimodal application by considering at least whether the user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application comprises considering, in addition to whether the user is a repeat user, gender of the user.

The non-transitory computer recordable medium of claim 19 , wherein selecting, using the processor, the visual demeanor and/or the vocal demeanor for presentation of the content provider's content via the multimodal application by considering at least whether the user of the multimodal application to whom the content provider's content is to be provided is a repeat user of the multimodal application comprises considering, in addition to whether the user is a repeat user and the gender of the user, location of the user.
