Abstract

A folded absorbent article is provided. The folded absorbent article includes an absorbent assembly including a liquid permeable inner layer, an outer layer, and an absorbent body. Each of a pair of ears extend outward from the back waist region and include a loop fastening component. A pair of spaced-apart hook fastening components are located on the outer layer in the front waist region, each being selectively engageable with a respective one of the loop fastening components in a wear configuration of the article. The absorbent article is folded such that the hook fastening components engage the back waist region, and such that a peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the back waist region is less than 120 grams-force when measured using a Diaper Opening Force Test.

a pair of spaced-apart hook fastening components disposed on the outer layer in the front waist region of the absorbent assembly, each of the hook fastening components being selectively engageable with a respective one of the loop fastening components in a wear configuration of the article;

wherein the absorbent article is folded such that the hook fastening components engage the outer layer loop material of the outer layer in the back waist region, and

wherein a peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the back waist region is less than 120 grams-force when measured using a Diaper Opening Force Test, wherein the peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the outer layer loop material is less than a peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the fastening component loop material.

2. The folded absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the back waist region is less than 100grams-force when measured using the Diaper Opening Force Test.

3. The folded absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the back waist region is an average of a peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the back waist region for ten samples of the absorbent article.

4. The folded absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the outer layer comprises a fibrous non-woven material.

5. A folded absorbent article comprising:

an absorbent assembly including longitudinally opposite ends, transversely opposite sides, a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region extending longitudinally between and interconnecting the front and back waist regions, a liquid permeable inner layer for facing a wearer, an outer layer for facing away from the wearer, an absorbent body disposed between the inner and outer layers, at least one of the inner layer and outer layer defining the longitudinally opposite ends and transversely opposite sides of the absorbent assembly;

a pair of ears extending transversely outward from the opposite sides of the absorbent assembly in the back waist region, each of the ears comprising a second fastening component; and

at least one first fastening component disposed on the outer layer in the front waist region of the absorbent assembly, the at least one first fastening component being selectively engageable with each of the second fastening components in a wear configuration of the article;

wherein the absorbent article is folded such that the front waist region engages the back waist region, and

wherein a peak force required to disengage the front waist region from the back waist region is less than 120 grams-force when measured using a Diaper Opening Force Test, wherein the peak force required to disengage the front waist region from the back waist region is less than a peak force required to disengage each of the second fastening from the at least one first fastening component.

6. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 , wherein the peak force required to disengage the front waist region from the back waist region is less than 100 grams-force when measured using the Diaper Opening Force Test.

7. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 , wherein the peak force required to disengage the front waist region from the back waist region is an average of a peak force required to disengage the front waist region from the back waist region for ten samples of the absorbent article.

8. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 ,

wherein the second fastening components comprise loop fastening components, and

wherein the at least one first fastening component comprises a pair of spaced apart hook fastening components.

9. The folded absorbent article of claim 8 , wherein each of the pair of hook fastening components engage the back waist region.

10. The folded absorbent article of claim 9 , wherein the peak force required to disengage the front waist region from the back waist region is a peak force required to disengage each of the hook fastening components from the back waist region.

11. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 ,

wherein the at least one first fastening component comprise an adhesive, and

wherein the at least one first fastening component engages the back waist region and the second fastening components via the adhesive.

12. The folded absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein attachment properties of the outer layer are different than attachment properties of the second fastening component.

13. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 ,

wherein the at least one first fastening component comprises a cohesive and engages the back waist region and the second fastening components via the cohesive.

14. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 , wherein the at least one first fastening component engages the outer layer.

15. The folded absorbent article of claim 5 ,

wherein the at least one first fastening component comprises a hook material,
