Abstract

A method of manufacturing a garment is provided that includes applying an adhesive layer to a first ply and/or a second ply in a first amount in a first zone where structural support is desired and in a second amount in a second zone where breathability is desired; arranging the first and second plies with respect to one another so that the adhesive layer is therebetween; and activating the adhesive layer to secure the first and second plies to one another.

1. A garment comprising:

a first ply;

a second ply; and

wherein said second thickness is different from each of said first and third thicknesses,

wherein said third thickness is different from the first thickness,

wherein the second weight per unit area is different from each of said first and third weights per unit area,

said second zone is positioned between said first and third zones,

wherein said transition area is contiguous with each of said first, second, and third zones;

wherein said second zone partially defines a band portion of the brassiere;

wherein said band portion has opposite first and second edges;

wherein said first zone extends along and at least partially defines said first edge of said band portion; and

wherein said third zone extends along and at least partially defines said second edge of said band portion.

9. The garment of claim 8 , wherein:

said first zone extends at least partially around and partially defines a breast cup of the brassiere; and

said breast cup comprises both a portion of said first ply and a portion of said second ply, wherein a portion of the breast cup having the portion of said first ply and the portion of said second ply excludes adhesive.

10. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the second thickness is less than about 0.002 inches and the first thickness is about 0.004 inches.

11. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the first zone of the layer of adhesive has a weight of between about 20 g/m 2 and about 40 g/m 2 .

12. The garment of claim 11 , wherein the first zone of the layer of adhesive has a weight of about 30 g/m 2 .
