Abstract

A wash unit for washing a gas turbine compressor include a wash fluid delivery system for injecting wash fluid into a compressor; one or more sensors for indicating one or more of wash fluid levels, temperature and quality; a unit controller for receiving information from the one or more sensors and controlling one or more components of the transportable wash unit; and a mobility unit for mobilizing the transportable wash unit.

Claims (40)

1 . A wash unit for washing a gas turbine compressor, the unit comprising:

a wash fluid delivery system for injecting wash fluid into a compressor;

one or more sensors for indicating one or more of wash fluid levels, temperature and quality;

a unit controller for receiving information from the one or more sensors and controlling one or more components of the transportable wash unit; and

a mobility unit for mobilizing the transportable wash unit.

2 . The transportable wash unit of claim 1 , and further comprising a power supply for providing power to components of the transportable washing unit.

3 . The transportable wash unit of claim 2 , wherein the power supply comprises a gasoline or diesel powered generator.

4 . The transportable wash unit of claim 1 , wherein the wash fluid is supplied to the wash unit from an external source.

5 . The transportable wash unit of claim 4 , wherein the wash unit further comprises a fluid treatment system to allow the wash unit to use the wash fluid supplied from the external source.

6 . The transportable wash unit of claim 5 , wherein the fluid treatment system de-ionizes the wash fluid supplied from the external source.

7 . The transportable wash unit of claim 5 , wherein the unit controller is manually controlled.

8 . The transportable wash unit of claim 1 , wherein the unit controller controls one or more of: the wash fluid delivery system, heating of wash fluid, adding detergents to wash fluid, pressurizing wash fluid and treatment of used wash fluid.

9 . The transportable wash unit of claim 1 , wherein the unit controller comprises a controller display unit which receives and displays information from the one or more sensors for indicating one or more of wash fluid levels, temperature and quality.

10 . The transportable wash unit of claim 1 , and further comprising a heating system for heating the wash fluid.

11 . The transportable wash unit of claim 10 , wherein the heating system comprises one or more of: a heat exchanger connected to a cooling system of a power source, a heat exchanger connected to an exhaust system of a power source and an immersion heater.

12 . An integrated engine wash system, the system comprising:

an injection apparatus for injecting wash fluid into an engine;

a plurality of tanks for storing one or more of: wash liquid, effluent and detergent;

a heating element for heating liquid in one or more of the plurality of tanks;

a pump for pressurizing the wash fluid;

a unit controller with a user interface for controlling one or more components of the engine wash system;

a collection system to collect effluent exiting the engine; and

a cart for mobilizing the integrated wash system.

13 . The engine wash system of claim 12 , wherein the collection system further comprises a system for measuring total dissolved solids in the effluent.

14 . The engine wash system of claim 12 , and further comprising a fluid treatment system.

15 . The engine wash system of claim 14 , wherein the fluid treatment system can treat effluent collected and/or wash fluid supplied from an external source.

16 . The engine wash system of claim 15 , wherein the fluid treatment system comprises one or more of: carbon filters, fiber filter elements, polishing resin, chemical treatment systems and de-ionizing filters.

17 . The engine wash system of claim 12 , and further comprising:

one or more sensors for indicating one or more of wash fluid levels, temperature and quality.

18 . The engine wash system of claim 12 , wherein the unit controller controls one or more of: the wash fluid delivery system, heating of wash fluid, adding detergents to wash fluid, pressurizing wash fluid and treatment of used wash fluid.

19 . The engine wash system of claim 12 , wherein the user interface allows manual control of the unit controller.

20 . The engine wash system of claim 19 , wherein the user interface displays information indicating one or more of: wash fluid levels in one or more of the plurality of tanks, temperature and fluid quality.

21 . The engine wash system of claim 19 , wherein the wash is controlled through the user interface.

22 . A method of washing a gas turbine engine with a transportable integrated wash unit with a unit controller with a display for manually controlling the washing, the method comprising:

treating an external source of wash fluid with a fluid treatment system on the transportable integrated wash unit;

filling a tank of the transportable integrated wash unit with treated wash fluid;

heating the treated wash fluid;

injecting the treated wash fluid into an engine with a wash fluid injector;

collecting the wash effluent exiting the engine; and

measuring total dissolved solids in the effluent.
