Abstract

A method allowing service subscribers to modify service subscriptions includes receiving an order for a feature package including multiple features and automatically generating a change request upon identifying an existing feature for the subscriber among the features in the feature package. Change requests may be generated automatically until the order includes new features exclusively.

Claims (52)

1. An order processing method for an online order system implemented on a server, comprising:

receiving, by the server from a user receiving existing features, an order for a feature package comprising a plurality of features from a webpage of the online order system, wherein the plurality of features as the feature package are processed differently than the plurality of features individuality;

identifying an overlapping feature comprising a particular feature that is one of the existing features and one of the features in the feature package;

automatically generating a change request to remove the overlapping feature from the order for the feature package;

automatically performing a validation of the change request;

presenting the user with the overlapping feature and remaining features of the plurality of features such that the user has an option to either accept the remaining features or cancel the order for a feature package through the webpage of the online order system.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

automatically modifying the change request responsive to a negative validation result.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

submitting the change request for implementation automatically upon validating the change request.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

repeating the operations of claim 1 , until the order includes no overlapping features exclusively.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing user interface data for generating a user interface indicative of charges associated with the change request.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

requesting confirmation from a user associated with a service provider account indicated in the order.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the existing feature is selected from features including: caller identification and call waiting.

8. A computer readable memory including processor executable program instructions, the program instructions comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform operations comprising:

receiving, from a user subscribing to existing features, an order for a feature package comprising a plurality of features from a webpage of an online order system, wherein the plurality of features as the feature package are processed differently than the plurality of features individually;

identifying an overlapping feature comprising a particular feature that is one of the existing features and one of the features in the feature package;

automatically generating a change request to remove the overlapping feature, from the order for the feature package;

automatically submitting the change request for implementation;

presenting the user with the overlapping feature and remaining features of the plurality of features such that the user has an option to either accept the remaining features or cancel the order for a feature package through the webpage of the online order system.

9. The computer readable memory of claim 8 , wherein the operations include:

automatically validating the change request.

10. The computer readable memory of claim 9 , wherein the operations include:

automatically modifying the change request based on a result of the validating.

11. The computer readable memory of claim 8 , wherein the operations include:

repeating the operations of claim 8 until the order includes new features exclusively.

12. The computer readable memory of claim 8 , wherein the operations include:

providing user interface data for generating a user interface indicative of charges associated with the change request.

13. The computer readable memory of claim 8 , wherein the operations include:

requesting confirmation from a user associated with an account associated with the change request.

14. The computer readable memory of claim 8 , wherein the existing feature is either a caller identification feature or a call waiting feature.

15. A computer system, comprising:

a processor; and

a computer readable memory including program instructions, executable by the processor, wherein the program instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving, from a user receiving existing features, an order for a feature package comprising a plurality of features from a webpage of an online order system, wherein the plurality of features as the feature package are processed differently than the plurality of features individually;

identifying an overlapping feature comprising a particular feature that is one of the existing features and one of the features in the feature package;

automatically generating a change request to remove, from the order, the overlapping feature; and

automatically performing a validation of the change request;

presenting the user with the overlapping feature and remaining features of the plurality of features such that the user has an option to either accept the remaining features or cancel the order for a feature package through the webpage of the online order system.

16. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the operations include:

automatically modifying the change request responsive to a negative validation result.

17. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the operations include:

submitting the change request for implementation automatically upon validating the change request.

18. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the operations include:

repeating the operations of claim 15 until the order includes new features exclusively.

19. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the operations include:

providing user interface data for generating a user interface indicative of charges associated with the change request.

20. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the operations include:

requesting confirmation from the user.
