Abstract

A method and apparatus for providing access to teleconference services using voice recognition technology to receive information on packet networks such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Service over Internet Protocol (SoIP) networks are disclosed. In one embodiment, the service provider enables a caller to enter access information for accessing a conference service using at least one natural language response.

Claims (35)

1. A method for providing an access to a conference service in a communication network, the method comprising:

receiving, by a processor, a request from an endpoint device of a caller to access the conference service;

receiving, by the processor, access information related to the conference service for joining a particular conference bridge in a natural language response, wherein the access information comprises a conference number; and

providing, by the processor, the access to the conference service when the access information is authenticated to allow the caller to access the conference service, wherein the access information includes a request by the caller to have an input from the endpoint device of the caller muted.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication network is a voice over internet protocol network.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the access information further comprises a password.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving comprises:

prompting the caller to provide the access information using an interactive voice response application.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the interactive voice response application is implemented on a media server.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

starting an authentication process when the caller is a subscriber who is unable to provide the access information.

7. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations for providing an access to a conference service in a communication network, the operations comprising:

receiving a request from an endpoint device of a caller to access the conference service;

receiving access information related to the conference service for joining a particular conference bridge in a natural language response, wherein the access information comprises a conference number; and

providing the access to the conference service when the access information is authenticated to allow the caller to access the conference service, wherein the access information includes a request by the caller to have an input from the endpoint device of the caller muted.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the communication network is a voice over internet protocol network.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the access information further comprises a password.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the receiving comprises:

prompting the caller to provide the access information using an interactive voice response application.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the interactive voice response application is implemented on a media server.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , further comprising:

starting an authentication process when the caller is a subscriber who is unable to provide the access information.

13. An apparatus for providing an access to a conference service in a communication network, the apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving a request from an endpoint device of a caller to access the conference service;

receiving access information related to the conference service for joining a particular conference bridge in a natural language response, wherein the access information comprises a conference number; and

providing the access to the conference service when the access information is authenticated to allow the caller to access the conference service, wherein the access information includes a request by the caller to have an input from the endpoint device of the caller muted.

14. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the communication network is a voice over internet protocol network.

15. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the access information further comprises a password.

16. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the receiving comprises:

prompting the caller to provide the access information using an interactive voice response application.

17. The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the interactive voice response application is implemented on a media server.

18. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

starting an authentication process when the caller is a subscriber who is unable to provide the access information.
