Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method for coding image information, including: generating prediction information by predicting information on a current coding unit; and determining whether the information on the current coding unit is the same as the prediction information, wherein when the information on the current coding unit is the same as the prediction information, a flag indicating that the information on the current coding unit is the same as the prediction information is coded and transmitted, and when the information on the current coding unit is not the same as the prediction information, the flag indicating that the information on the current coding unit is not the same as the prediction information and the information on the current coding unit are coded and transmitted.

Claims (16)

1. An apparatus for decoding video information, the apparatus comprising:

a decoding apparatus configured to generate an occurrence probability for entropy decoding of a split flag of a current coding unit, and perform the entropy decoding of the split flag of the current coding unit according to the generated occurrence probability,

wherein the generation of the occurrence probability relating to the split flag of the current coding unit is dependent on a split depth value of a neighboring coding unit,

wherein the neighboring coding unit is determined to be at least one of coding units located at a top side or a left side of the current coding unit,

wherein the split flag indicates whether a coding unit is split and the split depth value indicates a depth value of a coding unit according to the split flag,

wherein the decoding apparatus is further configured to

decode a prediction flag indicating whether information of the current coding unit is the same as prediction information of the current block derived from information of a collocated block corresponding to the current coding unit, the collocated block belonging to a reference frame, the reference frame having a different temporal order from a current frame to which the current coding unit belongs,

derive the information of the current coding unit based on the decoded prediction flag, and

perform inter-prediction of the current coding unit using the derived information of the current coding unit,

wherein the information of the current coding unit includes information on a motion vector of the current coding unit and information on a reference index of the current coding unit, and

wherein the prediction information of the current block includes prediction information on a motion vector and prediction information on a reference index.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the decoding apparatus is a hardware decoding apparatus.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein when the decoded prediction flag indicates that the information of the current coding unit is same as the prediction information of the current coding unit, the information on a motion vector of the current coding unit is derived by using the prediction information on a motion vector and the information on a reference index is derived by using the prediction information on an reference index.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein when the decoded prediction flag indicates that the information of the current coding unit is not same as the prediction information of the current coding unit, the information on a motion vector of the current coding unit is derived by adding the prediction information on a motion vector to a difference between the information on a motion vector of the current coding unit and the prediction information on a motion vector, and

wherein the difference is signaled from an encoding apparatus.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein when the decoded prediction flag indicates that the information of the current coding unit is not same as the prediction information of the current coding unit, the information on a reference index of the current coding unit is obtained from a bitstream.
