Abstract

Provided are a flux cored arc welding wire able to improve low-temperature toughness of a weld joint and a weld joint using the same, in which the flux cored arc welding wire includes 0.01 wt % to 0.1 wt % of carbon (C), 0.3 wt % to 1.4 wt % of silicon (Si), 1.0 wt % to 3.0 wt % of manganese (Mn), 4.0 wt % to 7.5 wt % of titanium (Ti)+TiO, 0.01 wt % to 3.0 wt % of nickel (Ni), 0.01 wt % to 0.2 wt % of boron (B), 0.02 wt % to 0.42 wt % of yttrium (Y) or 0.02 wt % to 0.56 wt % of a rare earth metal (REM), and iron (Fe) as well as other unavoidable impurities as a remainder.

Claims (29)

1. A flux cored arc welding wire comprising:

0.01 wt % to 0.1 wt % of carbon (C);

0.3 wt % to 1.4 wt % of silicon (Si);

1.0 wt % to 3.0 wt % of manganese (Mn);

4.0 wt % to 7.5 wt % of titanium (Ti)+TiO;

0.01 wt % to 3.0 wt % of nickel (Ni);

0.01 wt % to 0.2 wt % of boron (B);

0.02 wt % to 0.42 wt % of yttrium (Y) and 0.02 wt % to 0.56 wt % of another rare earth metal (REM); and

iron (Fe) as well as other unavoidable impurities as a remainder,

wherein a sum of Y and the other REM is in a range of 0.19 wt % to 0.65 wt %.

2. The flux cored arc welding wire of claim 1 , further comprising 0.15 wt % or less of niobium (Nb).

3. The flux cored arc welding wire of claim 1 , wherein an amount of spatter generated during arc welding with the welding wire under welding conditions of 280A-30V is 2.0 mg/min or less.

4. A weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness comprising:

0.01 wt % to 0.1 wt % of C;

0.1 wt % to 0.5 wt % of Si;

0.5 wt % to 2.0 wt % of Mn;

0.02 wt % to 0.1 wt % of Ti;

0.01 wt % to 3.0 wt % of Ni;

5 ppm to 60 ppm of B;

one or two of 5 ppm to 250 ppm of Y and 5 ppm to 250 ppm of a REM; and

Fe as well as other unavoidable impurities as a remainder,

wherein the weld joint has a prior austenite grain diameter of 400 μm or less.

5. The weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness of claim 4 , further comprising 0.02 wt % or less of Nb.

6. The weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness of claim 4 , wherein the weld joint comprises complex inclusions formed of one or more of Ti, Mn, Y, and REM, and

an amount of complex inclusions having an average diameter ranging from 0.01 μm to 0.1 μm is 65% or less of total complex inclusions.

7. The weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness of claim 6 , wherein the number of complex inclusions is 200 or more per 1 mm 2 .

8. The weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness of claim 4 , wherein an area fraction of acicular ferrite in a microstructure of the weld joint is 86% or more.

9. The weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness of claim 4 , wherein a low-temperature impact toughness of the weld joint at −80° C. is 60 J or more.

10. The weld joint having excellent workability and able to secure low-temperature toughness of claim 3 , wherein a low-temperature crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) value of the weld joint at −60° C. is 0.25 mm or more.
