Abstract

The invention provides a lighting unit comprising a light source, configured to generate light source light and a luminescent material, configured to convert at least part of the light source light into luminescent material light, wherein the light source comprises a light emitting diode (LED) and wherein the luminescent material comprises a phosphor comprising M 2 AX 6 doped with tetravalent manganese, wherein M comprises monovalent cations, at least comprising potassium and rubidium, wherein A comprises a tetravalent cation, at least comprising silicon, wherein X comprises a monovalent anion, at least comprising fluorine, and wherein M 2 AX 6 has the hexagonal phase.

Claims (15)

1. A lighting unit comprising a light source, for generating light source light and a luminescent material, for converting at least part of the light source light into luminescent material light, wherein the light source comprises a light emitting diode (LED) and wherein the luminescent material comprises a phosphor comprising (K 1-r-l-n-c-nh Rb r Li 1 Na n CS c (NH 4 ) nh ) 2 Si 1-m-t-g-s-zr Mn m Ti t Ge g Sn s Zr zr (F l-cl-b-i CL cl Br b I i ) 6 , wherein m is in the range of 0.001-0.15, wherein t,g,s,zr are each individually in the range of 0-0.2, with t+g+s+zr is greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.2, wherein r is in the range of 0.2-0.8, wherein 1,n,c,nh are each individually in the range of 0-0.2, with 1+n+c+nh greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.2, wherein cl,b,i are each individually in the range of 0-0.2, with cl+b+i+greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.2, and wherein the phosphor has the hexagonal phase.

2. The lighting unit according to claim 1 , wherein the light source is configured to generate blue light.

The lighting unit according to claim 1 , wherein the luminescent material further comprises one or more other phosphors selected from the group consisting of a divalent europium containing nitride luminescent material, a divalent europium containing oxynitride luminescent material, a trivalent cerium containing garnet and a trivalent cerium containing oxynitride.

4. The lighting, unit according to claim 1 wherein a molar ratio between potassium and rubidium of the phosphor is in the range of 0.5-2.

A phosphor comprising (K 1-r-1-n-c-nh Rb r Li 1 Na n CS c (NH 4 ) nh ) 2 Si 1-m-t-g-s-Zr Mn m Ti t Ge g Sn s Zr zr (F 1-c-b-i Cl cl Br b I i ) 6 , wherein is in the range of 0.001-0.15, wherein t,g,s,zr are, each individually in the range of 0-0.2, with t+g+s+zr is greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.2, wherein r is in the range of 0.2-0.8, wherein 1,n,c,nh are each individually in the range of 0-0.2, with 1+n+c+nh greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.2, wherein cl,b,i are each individually in the range of 0-0.2, with cl+b+i greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.2, wherein the phosphor has the hexagonal phase.

6. The phosphor according to claim 5 , wherein a molar ratio between potassium and rubidium of the phosphor is in the rancie of 0.5-2.

A method for the preparation of the phosphor according to claim 5 , the method comprising mixing, a soluble salt of a monovalent cation, wherein the soluble salt of the monovalent cation at least comprises potassium and rubidium, a soluble salt of tetravalent manganese precursor, a silicon source, in an aqueous solution of an inorganic acid at least comprising HF, precipitating the phosphor as defined in any one of claim, and drying the phosphor thus obtained, wherein the drying or any other optional later heat treatment process of the phosphor is performed at a temperature below 200° C.

The method according to claim 7 , wherein the soluble salt of a monovalent cation is rubidium fluoride (RbF) and potassium hydrogen difluoride (KIIF 2 ). wherein the soluble salt of tetravalent manganese precursor is KMnO 4 , wherein the aqueous solution of an inorganic acid at least comprising HE comprises an aqueous HF solution, and wherein the silicon source is SiO 2 .

9. The method according to claim 7 , wherein the drying or any other optional later heat treatment process of the phosphor is performed at a temperature below 110° C.

10. The method according to claim 9 wherein a molar ratio between potassium and rubidium of the phosphor is in the range of 0.5-2.

11. An LCD display device comprising a lighting unit comprising

a light source, for generating light source light and

a luminescent material, for converting at least part of the light source light into luminescent material light,

wherein the light, source comprises a light emitting diode (LED),

wherein the luminescent material comprises a phosphor comprising M 2 AX 6 doped with tetravalent manganese, wherein M comprises monovalent cations, at least comprising potassium and rubidium, wherein A comprises a tetravalent cation, at least comprising silicon, wherein X comprises a monovalent anion, at least comprising fluorine, wherein M 2 AX ≢ has the hexagonal phase, and wherein M 2 AX 6 has a luminous efficacy greater than 200 lm/W, and wherein the lighting unit is configured as backlighting unit.
