Abstract

A control and supply unit for an actuating device of a choke, a valve, a blow-out preventer or some other device applied in the field of oil and natural gas production. The control and supply unit includes an auxiliary power supply that is rechargeable and a connecting means to exchange data or supply a voltage. The unit is implemented separately from the actuating device and the connecting means is connected via a cable connection to a separate plug connection module arranged on the actuating device.

Claims (28)

1. A retrievable choke insert assembly, comprising:

an actuating device; and

a control and supply unit for the actuating device, the control and supply unit comprising:

an auxiliary power supply that is rechargeable; and

a connector to exchange data or supply a voltage;

wherein the control and supply unit is implemented separately from the actuating device.

2. The control and supply unit according to claim 1 , wherein the connector is connected via a cable connection to a separate plug connection module arranged on the actuating device.

3. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , wherein the plug connection module comprises a connection housing and at least one plug connection device.

4. The control and supply unit according to claim 3 , wherein a coupling means for transmitting electric power or data is implemented between the connection housing and the actuating device.

5. The control and supply unit according to claim 3 , wherein the connection housing is releasably secured to an outer side of a housing of the actuating device.

6. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , wherein the actuating device has power supplied thereto directly via the plug connection module.

7. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , wherein the plug connection module is configured to be connected to an external control module.

8. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , wherein the plug connection module is adapted to be connected to a remotely controllable vehicle.

9. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 further comprising a unit housing that comprises a communication interface, the auxiliary power supply, and a motor control unit.

10. The control and supply unit according to claim 9 , wherein the communication interface comprises a CAN field bus.

11. The control and supply unit according to claim 9 wherein the communication interface comprises a field bus and the terminals of the field bus and the voltage supply are implemented separately.

12. The control and supply unit according to claim 9 , wherein the communication interface and a voltage supply connection of the connector are formed on a supply and communication assembly.

13. The control and supply unit according to claim 12 , wherein the supply and communication assembly comprises connections for supplying electric power to the motor control unit, the auxiliary power supply, or a sensor unit of the actuating device.

14. The control and supply unit according to claim 12 , wherein the supply and communication assembly comprises bus connections for communication with or control of the auxiliary power supply, the motor control unit, or a sensor unit of the actuating device.

15. The control and supply unit according to claim 12 , wherein the supply and communication assembly comprises a ground terminal connected to the auxiliary power supply or the motor control unit.

16. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , wherein the connecting means connector is configured to couple to a submarine control module for communication or voltage supply.

17. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , further comprising a plug connection module with two plug connection devices associated with the actuating device to provide redundancy.

18. The control and supply unit according to claim 2 , wherein the plug connection module is configured for connection of a vehicle voltage supply line or a vehicle data line for supply with electric power by and for an exchange of data with the vehicle.

19. A control and supply unit for an actuating device of a choke, a valve, a blow-out preventer or a control device applied in the field of oil and natural gas production, the unit comprising:

an auxiliary power supply that is rechargeable;

a communication interface to exchange data; and

a voltage supply connection to supply a voltage;

wherein the control and supply unit is implemented separately from the actuating device.
