Abstract

A recording/reproducing apparatus, for recording/reproducing video content comprises a recording/reproducing portion, which is configured to record the video content into a recording medium, and to reproduce the video content recorded in the recording medium, wherein determination is made if video content to be reproduced at high-speed includes video content or not, which can be displayed in 3D, when reproducing the video content recorded in the recording medium at the high-speed, and upon basis of that determination, a method of high-speed reproduction is changed.

Claims (31)

1. A reproducing apparatus, comprising:

a reproducing portion, which is configured to reproduce a video content from a recording medium,

a decoder, which is configured to decode a video content reproduced by the reproducing portion, and

an on screen display (OSD) producing portion, which is configured to produce an OSD, wherein

the reproducing apparatus is capable of high-speed reproducing a 3D video content to be displayed in 3D from the recording medium by a plurality of reproducing methods at one reproducing speed,

the OSD producing portion is capable of producing a set up menu OSD that allows the plurality of reproducing methods to be selectable by a user,

the decoder is capable of changing a decoding process for a 3D video content to be displayed in 3D at the one reproducing speed according to a reproducing method selected via the set up menu OSD.

2. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of reproducing methods includes a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently skipped moving pictures.

3. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 2 ,

wherein the plurality of reproducing methods includes a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently displayed still pictures.

4. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of reproducing methods includes both a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently skipped moving pictures and a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently displayed still pictures.

5. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 1 , wherein

the 3D video content reproduced from the recording medium is a 3D video content in which both video data for left eye viewpoint and video data for right eye viewpoint are included in one elementary stream.

6. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 1 , wherein

the 3D video content reproduced from the recording medium is a 3D video content in which video data for right eye viewpoint is included in a different elementary stream from an elementary stream including video data for left eye viewpoint.

7. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 1 , further comprising:

a video conversion process portion which is capable of switching 2D/3D status of a video content decoded by the decoder, wherein:

the reproducing apparatus is also capable of high-speed reproducing a 3D video content to be displayed in 2D from the recording medium at said one reproducing speed, and

the OSD producing portion is capable of producing a set up menu OSD that allows the plurality of reproducing methods in 3D and a reproducing method in 2D to be selectable by a user.

8. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 7 ,

wherein the plurality of reproducing methods includes a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently skipped moving pictures.

9. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 8 ,

wherein the plurality of reproducing methods includes a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently displayed still pictures.

10. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 7 ,

wherein the plurality of reproducing methods includes both a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently skipped moving pictures and a method in which a 3D video content displayed as intermittently displayed still pictures.

11. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 7 , wherein

the 3D video content reproduced from the recording medium is a 3D video content in which both video data for left eye viewpoint and video data for right eye viewpoint are included in one elementary stream.

12. The reproducing apparatus described in the claim 7 , wherein

the 3D video content reproduced from the recording medium is a 3D video content in which video data for right eye viewpoint is included in a different elementary stream from an elementary stream including video data for left eye viewpoint.
