Penoxsulam as a turfgrass, vineyard and orchard floor herbicide
View Patent ↗Penoxsulam, 2-(2,2-difluoroethoxy)-N-(5,8-dimethoxy[1,2,4]-triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidin-2-yl)-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonamide, is useful in controlling broadleaf weeds and sedges in turfgrass and in vine and orchard floors.
1. A synergistic herbicidal composition comprising a synergistic effectively amount of penoxsulam and a second herbicide, wherein the second herbicide is dicamba, 2,4-D, mecoprop-P, or a mixture thereof.
2. The synergistic herbicidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the second herbicide is dicamba.
3. The synergistic herbicidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the second herbicide is a mixture of 2,4-D and mecoprop-P.
4. The synergistic herbicidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the second herbicide is 2,4-D.
5. The synergistic herbicidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the second herbicide is a mixture of dicamba and 2,4-D.
6. The synergistic herbicidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the second herbicide is a mixture of dicamba, 2,4-D, and mecoprop-P.
7. The synergistic herbicidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the second herbicide is mecoprop-P.
8. A solid herbicidal mixture comprising an herbicidally effective amount of (a) the composition according to claim 1 in admixture with an agriculturally acceptable adjuvant or carrier and (b) a fertilizer.
9. The mixture of claim 8 , wherein the mixture is in the form of a granule having an average particle size of 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters.
10. A method for controlling undesirable vegetation in turfgrass, vineyards and orchards which comprises contacting the vegetation or the locus thereof with, or applying to the soil to prevent the emergence or subsequent growth of vegetation, an herbicidally effective amount of the herbicidal composition according to claim 1 .
11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the herbicidal composition is applied post-emergence.
12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the undesirable vegetation is Hydrocotyle or Cyperus.
13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the undesirable vegetation is HYDSS or CYPES.
14. A method for controlling undesirable vegetation in turfgrass, vineyards and orchards which comprises contacting the vegetation or the locus thereof with, or applying to the soil to prevent the emergence or subsequent growth of vegetation, an herbicidal mixture comprising an herbicidally effective amount of (a) the composition according to claim 1 in admixture with an agriculturally acceptable adjuvant or carrier and (b) a fertilizer.
