Abstract

A system for virtualizing service delivery of a plurality of website hosting architectures includes a first website hosting architecture that is adapted to provide a plurality of website hosting services, a second website hosting architecture that is adapted to also provide a plurality of website hosting services. The system further includes a service delivery layer for delivering a portion of the plurality of website hosting services from the first and second website hosting architectures, and a virtualization layer configured to abstract the service delivery layer from each of the first website hosting architecture and the second website hosting architecture.

Claims (16)

1. A website hosting platform for hosting a plurality of websites, the system comprising:

a first website hosting architecture including at least a first server, wherein the first website hosting architecture provides first website hosting services to a first website hosting client and includes a first website hosting client user interface for facilitating interaction with the first website hosting services by the first website hosting client;

a second website hosting architecture that is distinct from the first website hosting architecture, and includes at least a second server, wherein the second website hosting architecture provides second website hosting services to a second website hosting client and includes a second website hosting client user interface for facilitating interaction with the second website hosting services by the second website hosting client; and

a virtualization layer that abstracts the first website hosting client user interface from the first website hosting architecture, abstracts the second website hosting client user interface from the second website hosting architecture, and adapts interactions of the first and the second website hosting clients with each of the first and second website hosting architectures to facilitate providing a website hosting client a consistent experience via a common website hosting user interface for all client interactions with the first and second website hosting architectures.

2. A system for website hosting service delivery, the system comprising:

a plurality of distinct website hosting control panels including a first control panel and a second control panel configured to provide website hosting management capabilities to a plurality of website owners, wherein each of the plurality of distinct website hosting control panels provides a direct interface to a corresponding distinct website hosting architecture selected from a first website hosting architecture including at least a first server and the first control panel and a second website hosting architecture including at least a second server and the second control panel, wherein the first website hosting architecture provides first website hosting services to the plurality of website owners, and wherein the second website hosting architecture provides second website hosting services to the plurality of website owners; and

a website hosting server executing a virtualization layer configured to enable the plurality of distinct website hosting control panels by abstracting the capabilities of at least one of the first and the second control panels directly interfaced with a corresponding one of the first and the second website hosting architecture and provide a common control panel for the plurality of website owners to access the website hosting management capabilities independent of the website hosting architecture providing the capabilities.

3. The platform of claim 2 , wherein the virtualization layer interfaces with a first website control panel of the first website hosting architecture and with second website control panel of the second website hosting architecture, and wherein the first and the second control panels effect different website hosting client user interface experiences.

4. The platform of claim 3 , wherein the virtualization layer harmonizes the user interface differences of the first and the second control panels to provide a website hosting client with a consistent user interface experience via the website hosting client user interface.

5. The system of claim 2 , wherein the virtualization layer adapts interactions between the plurality of distinct website hosting control panels and a plurality of website hosting architectures to facilitate providing a client a consistent experience for all client interactions with the first and second website hosting architectures.

6. The system of claim 2 , wherein a portion of the plurality of distinct website hosting control panels are configured to interface with at least one type of website hosting architecture, and wherein the virtualization layer adapts interactions between the portion of the plurality of distinct website hosting control panels and types of website hosting architectures other than the at least one type of website hosting architecture.

7. A website hosting platform, comprising:

a first website hosting architecture including at least a first server, wherein the first website hosting architecture provides first website hosting services and includes a first website hosting client user interface for facilitating interaction with the first website hosting services by a first website hosting client;

a second website hosting architecture that is distinct from the first website hosting architecture, and includes at least a second server, wherein the second website hosting architecture provides second website hosting services and includes a second website hosting client user interface for facilitating interaction with the second website hosting services by a second website hosting client; and

a virtualization layer that abstracts the first website hosting client user interface from the first website hosting architecture, abstracts the second website hosting client user interface from the second website hosting architecture, and adapts interactions with each of the first and second website hosting architectures to facilitate providing a website hosting client a consistent experience via a common website hosting user interface when configuring the first and second website hosting services for a single website,

wherein the virtualization layer provides the services for operating the single website including providing the first website hosting services from the first website hosting architecture and providing the second website hosting services from the second website hosting architecture.
