Abstract

A method and system for generating customized incentives involving electronic distribution of coupons to remote personal computers based on proximity of the computer to a retail center are disclosed. A repository, such as an online service provider or a web site on the Internet, stores packages of incentive data for downloading automatically or on demand to a user's computer. A plurality of data fields is used to associate a user's location with a specific incentive. The incentive data corresponds to remote user computers in a predetermined geographic area. Means for identifying remote user computers in a predetermined geographic area and means for providing direction data, such as maps, etc. to the remote user computer are disclosed.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first geographic region comprises a first region defined based on a first radius, the second geographic region comprises a second region defined based on a second radius, and the location of the retail center defines a center of each of the first and second regions.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the second radius is larger than the first radius, and the second discount value for the second geographic region provides a greater discount value than the first discount value for the first geographic region.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second geographic region is located a further distance from the retail center than the first geographic region, and the second discount value is greater than the first discount value.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein first discount value and the second discount value provides a discount off a price of an item.

10. A computer-implemented method of generating real-time directions associated with incentives for consumers, the method being implemented by a computer that includes a physical processor programmed by computer program instructions that, when executed by the physical processor, programs the computer to perform the method, the method comprising:

obtaining, by the computer, from an incentive issuer associated with a retail center, information specifying a first geographic region in relation to a location of the retail center, a first discount value associated with the first geographic region, a second geographic region in relation to the location of the retail center, and a second discount value associated with the second geographic region wherein the first discount value is different than the second discount value, wherein the first geographic region comprises a first predetermined maximum distance and a first predetermined minimum distance in relation to the location of the retail center, and wherein the second geographic region comprises a second predetermined maximum distance and a second predetermined minimum distance in relation to the location of the retail center;

storing, by the computer in a database, the information;

obtaining, by the computer, user location data that indicates a location associated with a remote user computer;

determining, by the computer, whether the location associated with the remote user computer is within the first geographic region or the second geographic region;

selecting, by the computer, the first discount value responsive to a determination that the location associated with the remote user computer is within the first geographic region and based on a first redemption rate associated with the first geographic region;
