Abstract

A device transmits and/or receives voice packets on a first plurality of subcarriers. There is no guard band between any two subcarriers in the first plurality of subcarriers. The device transmits and/or receives a first subset of data packets on a second plurality of subcarriers and a second subset of the data packets on a third plurality of subcarriers. The following limitations may apply: a) there is no guard band between any two subcarriers in the second plurality of subcarriers, and b) there is at least a guard band between at least two subcarriers in the third plurality of subcarriers.

8. A transceiver for voice and data transmission comprising:

a) one or more communication interfaces;

b) one or more processors; and

ii) receive a first subset of said encrypted data traffic packets on a second plurality of subcarriers in a first time period and a second subset of said encrypted data traffic packets on a third plurality of subcarriers in a second time period according to a base station media access control (MAC) layer packet scheduler decision, wherein:

(1) said first time period and said second time period do not overlap;

(2) there is no guard band between any two subcarriers in said second plurality of subcarriers; and

(3) there is at least one guard band between at least two subcarriers in said third plurality of subcarriers.
