Abstract

The present invention relates to synthetic green tea derived polyphenolic compounds, their modes of syntheses, and their use in inhibiting proteasomal activity and in treating cancers. The present invention is also directed to pharmaceutical compositions useful in methods of inhibiting proteasomes and of treating cancers.

Claims (8)

1. A method for treating a breast cancer comprising administering an effective amount of a compound, or a composition comprising said compound, to a patient diagnosed as having a breast cancer, wherein said compound comprises a formula of:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound, and wherein growth of said breast cancer is inhibited by inhibition of proteasomal chymotrypsin-like activity.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said administering is conducted by a route selected from the group consisting of orally, parenterally, subcutaneously, intravenously, intramuscularly, intraperitoneally, intraarterially, transdermally, and via a mucus membrane.
