Abstract

A system and method is disclosed for advertising through a social network by immersion of participants in a sponsored mobile game. A game application for the sponsored game is developed on a server and deployed on consumer devices connected to the server. The game application, operating on a smart phone, utilizes onboard GPS and camera subsystems to carry out and facilitate the game functions. A dashboard is provided for designing the game around an advertising campaign. The game application is syndicated and shared through a consumer's social media community. The game is tracked by the server. Game information and rewards are delivered to participants during and after the game. In one aspect, the game involves a participant gathering digital permits prior to and during the game which are used to complete a tagging event with other participants. Rewards such as redeemable coupons are based on actions at sponsor locations.

deriving a list of eligible games from the match condition; and,

transmitting the list of eligible games to the first device.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of joining the first participant further comprises the steps of:

transmitting a list of eligible games to the first device; and,

receiving a game selection from the list of eligible games.

5 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

starting the sponsored game;

tracking the sponsored game; and,

awarding a set of benefits related to the sponsored game.

6 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

providing a permit; and,

enabling the tagging event based on the permit.

7 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

determining a third bilateral agreement between the first participant and the game sponsor;

providing a permit conditioned on the third bilateral agreement; and,

enabling the tagging event based on the permit.

8 . The method of claim 7 further comprising the step of:

providing a reward based on the permit.

9 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

receiving a first device location from the first device;

receiving a set of permit locations and a set of permit requirements from the game sponsor;

receiving a permit request from the first device;

sending the set of permit requirements to the first device;

receiving a permit action from the first device;

comparing the permit action to the set of permit requirements to determine an authorization; and,

issuing the permit based on the authorization.

10 . A method for executing a mobile game on a server, comprising the steps of:

determining a first bilateral agreement between a participant and a game sponsor related to the mobile game;

registering the participant in the mobile game;

executing the mobile game according to a set of game rules;

communicating a sponsor advertisement to the participant during the mobile game;

receiving a digital image from the first participant;

confirming a tagging event based on the digital image;

determining a winner based on the tagging event; and,

communicating a reward to the winner.

11 . The method of claim 10 further comprising the steps of:

receiving a participant profile from the participant;

receiving a profile criteria from the game sponsor;

comparing the participant profile to the profile criteria to determine a match condition; and,

determining a qualifying participant based on the match condition.

12 . The method of claim 11 further comprising the step of:

transmitting a list of eligible games to the qualifying participant.

13 . The method of claim 12 further comprising the steps of:

receiving a game selection from the list of eligible games; and,

joining the qualifying participant to the mobile game based on the game selection.

14 . The method of claim 10 wherein the step of determining the winner further comprises the steps of:

assigning a set of point values to a plurality of tagging events; and,

summing the set of point values.

15 . The method of claim 10 further comprising the steps of:

providing a permit to the first participant; and,

enabling the tagging event based on the permit.

16 . The method of claim 10 further comprising the steps of:

determining a second bilateral agreement between the sponsor and the first participant;

issuing a permit based on the second bilateral agreement; and,

enabling the tagging event based on the permit.

17 . The method of claim 16 wherein the step of determining a second bilateral agreement further comprises the steps of:
