AMUSEMENT DEVICES AND GAMES INVOLVING PROGRESSIVE JACKPOTS
Various embodiments of a successive choice game including methods and apparatus are described. Further embodiments are disclosed.
1 . A method comprising:
determining, by a computing device, a plurality of outcomes of a plurality of binary choice events that take place over a period of time;
during the period of time, after a first binary choice event and before a second binary choice event, receiving, by the computing device, a first buyin for a progressive game from a first user;
receiving, by the computing device, a first selection of first binary outcomes from the first user;
determining, by the computing device, that a first next set of binary choice outcomes of the plurality of binary choice outcomes that occur after receiving the first buyin do not match the first selection of first binary outcomes;
in response to determining that the first next set of binary choice outcomes does not match the first selection of first binary outcomes, determining, by the computing device, that the first user does not win the progressive game;
during the period of time, after the second binary choice event but before a third binary choice event, receiving, by the computing device, a second buyin for the progressive game from a second user;
receiving, by the computing device, a second selection of second binary outcomes from the second user;
determining, by the computing device, that a second next set of binary choice outcomes of the plurality of binary choice outcomes that occur after receiving the second buyin do match the second selection of second binary outcomes;
in response to determining that the second next set of binary choice outcomes does match the second selection of second binary choice outcomes, determining, by the computing device, that the second user wins the progressive game; and
in response to determining that the second user wins the progressive game, awarding, by the computing device, a progressive pool to the second user.
2 . The method of claim 1 , in which each binary choice event includes an event that has two possibly valid outcomes where only one outcome of the two will occur.
3 . The method of claim 1 , in which each binary choice event includes a coin flip.
4 . The method of claim 1 , in which each binary choice event includes a game outcome.
5 . The method of claim 1 , in which the first selection of first binary choice outcomes includes a selection of a plurality of coin flip outcomes made through a computer interface.
6 . The method of claim 1 , in which the second next set of binary choice outcomes matches the plurality of second selection of second binary outcomes because the two are the same.
7 . The method of claim 1 , in which the first buyin includes an amount of money.
8 . The method of claim 1 , in which the first buyin includes an amount of points.
9 . The method of claim 8 , in which the progressive pool includes an amount of money.
10 . The method of claim 1 , in which the second next set includes some but not all of the first next set.
11 . The method of claim 1 , comprising: allocating at least a portion of the first buyin to the progressive prize pool.
12 . The method of claim 1 , in which the first next set includes 50 binary choice events.
13 . The method of claim 1 , in response to determining that the second user wins the progressive game, offering the second user to forego the progressive pool to gain access to a higher level progressive game.
14 . The method of claim 1 , comprising: in response to determining that the second user wins the progressive game, granting the second user access to a higher level progressive game.
15 . The method of claim 1 , in which determining the plurality of outcomes includes causing a physical coin to be flipped periodically.
16 . The method of claim 1 , in which determining the plurality of outcomes includes determining coin flip outcomes based on random number generations.
17 . An apparatus comprising:
a computing device; and
a non-transitory medium having stored thereon a plurality of instructions that when executed by the computing device cause the apparatus to:
determine a plurality of outcomes of a plurality of binary choice events that take place over a period of time;
during the period of time, after a first binary choice event and before a second binary choice event, receive a first buyin for a progressive game from a first user;
receive a first selection of first binary outcomes from the first user;
determine that a first next set of binary choice outcomes of the plurality of binary choice outcomes that occur after receiving the first buyin do not match the first selection of first binary outcomes;
in response to determining that the first next set of binary choice outcomes does not match the first selection of first binary outcomes, determine that the first user does not win the progressive game;
during the period of time, after the second binary choice event but before a third binary choice event, receive a second buyin for the progressive game from a second user;
receive a second selection of second binary outcomes from the second user;
determine that a second next set of binary choice outcomes of the plurality of binary choice outcomes that occur after receiving the second buyin do match the second selection of second binary outcomes;
in response to determining that the second next set of binary choice outcomes does match the second selection of second binary choice outcomes, determine that the second user wins the progressive game; and
in response to determining that the second user wins the progressive game, award a progressive pool to the second user.
