AGGREGATING MULTIPLE TRANSACTION PROTOCOLS FOR TRANSACTING BETWEEN A PLURALITY OF DISTINCT PAYMENT ACQUIRING DEVICES AND A TRANSACTION ACQUIRER
Aggregating multiple transaction protocols for transacting between a plurality of distinct payment acquiring devices and a transaction acquirer includes using a multi-protocol meta-model to consistently abstract a protocol of electronic messages received by each distinct payment acquiring device to a transaction acquirer compatible protocol and forwarding a transaction message based on the abstracted protocol and the original electronic message to a transaction acquirer.
1 . A point of sale transaction protocol abstraction system in a multi-domain ecosystem, comprising:
a point of sale terminal adapted to accept transaction messages via a plurality of distinct transaction protocols; and
a protocol abstraction facility executable by a processor of the point of sale terminal for abstracting at least one of the accepted transaction messages comprising a plurality of transaction information fields that comply with at least one of the plurality of distinct transaction protocols into at least one transaction message that is compliant with at least one transaction protocol that is compatible with a transaction acquirer through which the point of sale terminal conducts transactions by:
determining with the processor a type and a content for the plurality of transaction information fields;
mapping at least a portion of the plurality of information fields to transaction acquirer compatible message fields;
configuring an acquirer compatible protocol transaction message based on the mapping; and
transmitting the acquirer compatible protocol transaction message from the point of sale terminal to the transaction acquirer in the multi-domain ecosystem.
2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising the protocol abstraction facility adapted to receive an acquirer compatible protocol authentication message from the transaction acquirer that is in response to the transmitted acquirer compatible protocol transaction message; map the acquirer compatible authentication message and generate an authentication message that is compatible with the one of the plurality of distinct transaction protocols for delivery via the one of the plurality of distinct transaction protocols to an electronic transaction device.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the payment acquisition devices comprise at least two different devices selected from the list of acquisition devices comprising: an NFC terminal, a barcode reader, a 2-D code reader, a Bluetooth terminal, and a Wi-Fi terminal.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the protocol abstraction facility is further adapted to wrap the acquirer compatible protocol transaction message in a protocol abstraction content wrapper prior to transmitting it.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the step of configuring the acquirer compatible protocol transaction message based on the mapping comprises translating content.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the step of configuring the acquirer compatible protocol transaction message based on the mapping comprises mapping sequence flows that are native to a particular protocol to sequence flows that are native to the acquirer compatible transaction protocol.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the step of configuring the acquirer compatible protocol transaction message based on the mapping comprises tokenizing private content prior to the step of transmitting.
8 . A method of abstracting a protocol in a secure personalized transaction via a multi-domain ecosystem, comprising:
receiving an electronic transaction message comprising a first secure personalized transaction protocol from a payment acquisition device, the first secure personalized transaction protocol comprising a plurality of information fields, wherein the message is received at a first networked device that is adapted to perform protocol abstraction in the multi-domain ecosystem;
determining with the networked device a type and a content for each of the plurality of information fields;
mapping content in at least a portion of the plurality of information fields using a meta-model that provides consistent mapping of a plurality of distinct secure personalized transaction protocols to a transaction acquirer secure personalized transaction protocol;
configuring a transaction acquirer secure personalized transaction protocol compatible transaction message comprising mapped content of the at least a portion of information fields based on the mapping; and
transmitting the transaction acquirer compatible transaction message from the networked device to a second networked device in the multi-domain ecosystem.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising receiving at the first networked device a transaction acquirer protocol compatible authentication message from the transaction acquirer; mapping the authentication message with the meta-model; configuring an authentication message that is compatible with the first secure personalized transaction protocol; and transmitting the authentication message to the payment acquisition device.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of distinct secure personalized transaction protocols comprise at least two different protocols selected from the list of distinct secure personalized transaction protocols consisting of: an NFC terminal protocol, a barcode reader protocol, a 2-D code reader protocol, a Bluetooth terminal protocol, a Wi-Fi terminal protocol, and a plurality of service provider-specific protocols.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first networked device is further adapted to wrap the configured transaction message in a protocol abstraction content wrapper prior to transmitting it.
12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the step of configuring a transaction acquirer secure personalized transaction protocol compatible transaction message comprises translating content.
13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the step of configuring a transaction acquirer secure personalized transaction protocol compatible transaction message comprises mapping sequence flows that are native to a particular protocol to sequence flows that are native to the transaction acquirer secure personalized transaction protocol.
14 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the step of configuring a transaction acquirer secure personalized transaction protocol compatible transaction message based on the mapping comprises tokenizing private content prior to transmitting the configured transaction message.
