Abstract

A method and system for diluting and dispersing chemicals that includes a plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers, a plurality of control valves each in corresponding fluid relationship to the plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers, at least one additional concentrated chemical container, a positive displacement pump in fluid relationship with the at least one additional concentrated liquid chemical container, at least one high pressure pump connected in fluid relationship to each of the plurality of control valves, at least one metering device located between at least one of the plurality of control valves, at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve connected in fluid relationship to the high pressure pump and a source of solvent or diluent, a hose connected in fluid relationship to the liquid pressure adjustment valve, and an applicator connected to the hose for dispersing a mixture of solvent, diluent and/or at least one concentrated chemical.

Claims (67)

1. A system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions comprising:

a plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers;

a plurality of control valves each connected in corresponding fluid relationship to the plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers;

a plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and to each of the plurality of control valves and in fluid relationship, wherein the plurality of control valves are connected between the plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers and the plurality of high pressure pumps;

at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve directly connected to both the plurality of high pressure pumps and a source of diluent or solvent and in fluid relationship;

a hose connected to the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve and in fluid relationship; and

a nozzle connected to the hose and in fluid relationship for dispersing a diluted solution, wherein the hose is connected between the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve and the nozzle.

2. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump.

3. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves directly connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 3 , further comprising a plurality of outlet check valves directly connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 3 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship and a plurality of outlet check valves directly connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 3 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump and further comprising a pair of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to the tandem pump and in fluid relationship for fluid flowing into the tandem pump and a pair of outlet check valves directly connected to the tandem pump and in fluid relationship for fluid flowing out of the tandem pump into each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in direct connection thereto.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the hose includes at least one outlet hose connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and in fluid relationship to the hose that provides a volume of fluid flow that is in a range from about one hundred percent (100%) to about six hundred percent (600%) of a volume of fluid flow of a single high pressure pump.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the hose includes at least one outlet hose connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and in fluid relationship to the hose that provides a volume of fluid flow that is in a range from about one hundred percent (100%) to about two hundred percent (200%) of a volume of fluid flow of a single high pressure pump.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the hose includes at least one outlet hose connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and in fluid relationship to the hose that provides an output volume of fluid flow that is in a range from about one hundred percent (100%) to about one hundred and twenty-five percent (125%) of a volume of fluid flow of a single high pressure pump.

11. A system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions comprising:

a plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers;

a plurality of control valves each correspondingly connected to the plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers and in fluid relationship;

at least one additional concentrated liquid chemical container;

a positive displacement pump connected to the at least one additional concentrated liquid chemical container and in fluid relationship;

a plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and to each of the plurality of control valves and in fluid relationship, wherein the plurality of control valves are connected between the plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers and the plurality of high pressure pumps;

at least one metering device directly connected to at least one of the plurality of control valves and in fluid relationship;

at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve connected to both the plurality of high pressure pumps and a source of diluent or solvent and in fluid relationship;

a hose connected to the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve and in fluid relationship; and

a nozzle connected to the hose for dispersing a diluted solution and in fluid relationship, wherein the hose is connected between the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve and the nozzle.

12. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 11 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump.

13. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 11 , wherein the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve includes a plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 11 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 13 , further comprising a plurality of outlet check valves directly connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 13 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship and a plurality of outlet check valves directly connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

17. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 16 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 11 , wherein the hose includes at least one outlet hose connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other that provides a volume of fluid flow to the hose that is in a range from about one hundred percent (100%) to about two hundred percent (200%) of a volume of fluid flow of a single high pressure pump and in fluid relationship.

19. A system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions comprising:

a first concentrated liquid chemical container;

a first control valve directly connected to the first concentrated liquid chemical container and in fluid relationship;

a second concentrated liquid chemical container;

a second control valve directly connected to the second concentrated liquid chemical container and in fluid relationship;

a first metering device directly connected to the second control valve and in fluid relationship;

a third concentrated liquid chemical container;

a third control valve directly connected to the third concentrated liquid chemical container and in fluid relationship;

a second metering device directly connected to the third control valve and in fluid relationship;

a positive displacement pump connected to a second metering device and in fluid relationship;

a plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and connected directly to the first control valve and connected directly to the first metering device and in fluid relationship;

at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve directly connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps, the positive displacement pump, and a source of diluent or solvent and in fluid relationship;

a maximum liquid pressure sensor directly connected to the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve and in fluid relationship;

a system liquid pressure gauge directly connected to the maximum liquid pressure sensor and in fluid relationship;

a minimum liquid pressure sensor directly connected to the system liquid pressure gauge and in fluid relationship;

a hose directly connected to the minimum liquid pressure sensor and in fluid relationship; and

a nozzle directly connected to the hose for dispersing a diluted solution and in fluid relationship.

20. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 19 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump.

21. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 19 , wherein the at least one liquid pressure adjustment valve includes a plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 19 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 21 , further comprising a plurality of outlet check valves directly connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 21 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship and directly connected to a plurality of outlet check valves connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

25. The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 21 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump.

The system for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 19 , wherein the hose includes at least one outlet hose directly connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship that provides a volume of fluid flow that is in a range from about one hundred percent (100%) to about two hundred percent (200%) of a volume of fluid flow of a single high pressure pump.

27. A method for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions comprising:

utilizing a plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers each correspondingly connected to a plurality of control valves and in fluid relationship;

utilizing at least one additional concentrated liquid chemical container that is connected to a positive displacement pump and in fluid relationship;

utilizing a plurality of high pressure pumps that are connected in parallel relationship to each other and to each of the plurality of control valves and in fluid relationship, wherein the plurality of control valves are connected between the plurality of concentrated liquid chemical containers and the plurality of high pressure pumps;

utilizing at least one metering device located between at least one of the plurality of control valves and the plurality of high pressure pumps;

utilizing a plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves connected to both the plurality of high pressure pumps and a source of diluent or solvent and in fluid relationship; and

utilizing a hose connected to the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship and having a nozzle connected to the hose for dispersing a diluted solution and in fluid relationship, wherein the hose is connected between the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and the nozzle.

28. The method for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 27 , wherein the plurality of high pressure pumps includes a tandem pump.

The method for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 27 , further comprising a plurality of back-to-back inlet check valves directly connected to each inlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and in fluid relationship and a plurality of outlet check valves directly connected to each outlet of each high pressure pump of the plurality of high pressure pumps and directly connected to each inlet of the plurality of liquid pressure adjustment valves and in fluid relationship.

The method for diluting concentrated liquids and dispersing resultant solutions as set forth in claim 27 , wherein the hose includes at least one outlet hose connected to the plurality of high pressure pumps connected in parallel relationship to each other and in fluid relationship that provides a volume of fluid flow that is in a range from about one hundred percent (100%) to about two hundred percent (200%) of a volume of fluid flow of a single high pressure pump.
