PULSE AND ACTIVE PULSE SPECTRAPHOTOMETRY
A pulse and active pulse spectraphotometry system comprises a light source adapted to illuminate a tissue site with optical radiation having a plurality of wavelengths selected from at least one of a primary band of about 1620 nm to about 1730 nm and a secondary band of about 1000 nm to about 1380 nm.

21 . A pulse spectraphotometry system comprising:
a light source configured to illuminate a tissue site with optical radiation at a first group of discrete wavelengths and a second group of discrete wavelengths, the first group of discrete wavelengths comprising at least some wavelengths different from the second group of discrete wavelengths, the tissue site having a modulated blood volume;
a detector configured to detect the optical radiation attenuated by the tissue site and generate an output signal responsive to absorption of the optical radiation by the tissue site; and
a processor configured to determine one or more measurement values of an analyte in the modulated blood volume based on the output signal,
wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm.
22 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 21 , wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises two or more wavelengths from the group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm.
23 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 22 , wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises three or more wavelengths from the group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm.
24 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 22 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
25 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 24 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises two or more wavelengths from the group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
26 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 21 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
27 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 26 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises two or more wavelengths from the group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
28 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 27 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises all wavelengths from the group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
29 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 21 , wherein the analyte comprises glucose.
30 . The pulse spectraphotometry system of claim 21 , wherein the analyte comprises hemoglobin.
31 . A pulse spectraphotometry method comprising:
selecting a discrete wavelength from a first group of discrete wavelengths and a second group of discrete wavelengths, the first group of discrete wavelengths comprising at least some wavelengths different from the second group of discrete wavelengths;
illuminating a tissue site with optical radiation at the selected discrete wavelength, the tissue site having a modulated blood volume;
detecting the optical radiation attenuated by the tissue site;
generating an output signal responsive to absorption of the optical radiation by the tissue site; and
determining one or more measurement values of an analyte in the modulated blood volume based on the output signal,
wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm, and
wherein the selected discrete wavelength comprises one discrete wavelength of the first group of discrete wavelengths.
32 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 31 , wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises two or more wavelengths from the group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm.
33 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 32 , wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises three or more wavelengths from the group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm.
34 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 32 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
35 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 34 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises two or more wavelengths from the group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
36 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 31 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
37 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 36 , wherein the second group of discrete wavelengths comprises two or more wavelengths from the group of about 1615 nm, about 1630 nm, and about 1660 nm.
38 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 31 , wherein the analyte comprises glucose.
39 . The pulse spectraphotometry method of claim 31 , wherein the analyte comprises hemoglobin.
40 . A pulse spectraphotometry system comprising:
a light source configured to illuminate a tissue site with optical radiation at a first group of discrete wavelengths and a second group of discrete wavelengths, the first group of discrete wavelengths comprising at least some wavelengths different from the second group of discrete wavelengths, the tissue site having a modulated blood volume;
a detector configured to detect the optical radiation attenuated by the tissue site and generate an output signal responsive to absorption of the optical radiation by the tissue site; and
means for calculating one or more measurement values of an analyte in the modulated blood volume based on the output signal,
wherein the first group of discrete wavelengths comprises one or more wavelengths from a group of about 1050 nm, about 1200 nm, about 1270 nm, about 1300 nm, and about 1330 nm.
