Abstract

A wagering game system and its operations are described herein. In some embodiments, the operations can include determining that a mobile device, associated with a player, is brought to a casino. The mobile device runs an application that may have been downloaded and installed on the mobile device prior to the mobile device being brought to the casino. The operations can further include generating an offer to perform an activity within the casino. The award is attainable via performance of the activity. The operations can include providing information about the offer to the mobile device. The mobile device presents the offer via the application. The application can specify the award and the activity to perform. The operations can further include detecting performance of the activity via player input via one or more wagering game machines within the casino, and providing the award in response to the performance of the activity.

10. One or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a set of one or more processors of a gaming system causes the set of one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

detecting, via a global positioning system sensor of a mobile device, that the mobile device is at a casino, wherein the mobile device is configured to run an application through which a wagering game player account is associated with the mobile device prior to the mobile device being at the casino, and wherein the mobile device is other than a wagering game machine;

in response to detecting that the mobile device is at the casino, transmitting to the mobile device, via a wireless communication device of the gaming system, an offer for presentation via the application, wherein the offer is to provide an award after performance of an activity via at least one wagering game machine within the casino;

detecting, via an electronic tracking device of the at least one wagering game machine, an electronic identifier provided from the mobile device to the at least one wagering game machine;

associating the offer with the at least one wagering game machine in response to detecting the electronic identifier;

detecting performance of the activity via the at least one wagering game machine; and

providing the award to the wagering game player account for the performance of the activity.

11. The one or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media of claim 10 said operations further comprising:

providing, for presentation via the application, an indication of the performance of the activity.

12. The one or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media of claim 10 said operations further comprising:

selecting a group of players based on one or more commonalities of a plurality of wagering game player accounts associated with the group of players, wherein the activity can be performed by any of the group of players, and wherein the wagering game player account is one of the wagering game player accounts.

13. The one or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media of claim 12 , wherein said operation for selecting the group of players based on the one or more commonalities comprises:

detecting that the mobile device is pointed at an additional mobile device within the casino, wherein the additional mobile device is associated with an additional wagering game player account from the plurality of wagering game player accounts;

detecting that a first setting of the additional wagering game player account has a first value substantially similar to a second value of a second setting of the wagering game player account; and

selecting one or more of the wagering game player account and the additional wagering game player account to be included in the group of players based on the first value being substantially similar to the second value.

14. The one or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media of claim 13 said operations further comprising:

providing, for presentation via the application, an indication that the one or more of the wagering game player account and the additional wagering game player account are included in the group of players.

15. The one or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media of claim 12 , said operations further comprising:

providing one or more portions of the award to the group of players proportional to amounts of wagering performed by each of the group of players.

16. The one or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media of claim 10 said operations further comprising:
