Abstract

An air delivery conduit ( 620 ) includes first ( 621 ) and second ( 622 ) conduit portions that cooperate to form the conduit, each conduit portion including an inner layer of a film laminate ( 650 ) that forms an interior surface of the conduit and an outer layer of a textile ( 655 ) that forms an exterior surface of the conduit.

Claims (14)

1. A method of forming an air delivery tubular conduit for delivering pressurized air to a patient for treatment of sleep disordered breathing, comprising:

forming at least one textile substrate;

embedding a support structure as part of the at least one textile substrate, the support structure comprising one or more reinforcing members; and

subsequent to the step of forming the at least one textile substrate, shaping the textile substrate into a tubular shape thereby forming an air delivery tubular conduit such that the reinforcing members are embedded within the textile of the air delivery tubular conduit,

wherein the step of embedding the support structure includes embedding within the at least one textile substrate fibers having a melting temperature that is lower than a melting temperature of the at least one textile substrate.

2. The method of forming an air delivery tubular conduit of claim 1 , wherein the step of embedding the support structure includes thermally processing the fibers.

3. The method of forming an air delivery tubular conduit of claim 1 , wherein the textile substrate is an air-tight fabric.

4. The method of forming an air delivery tubular conduit of claim 3 , wherein the shaping of the conduit comprises rolling the textile substrate portion and connecting two opposing edges of the textile substrate.

5. The method of forming an air delivery conduit according to claim 3 , wherein the textile substrate forms an inner surface of the air delivery tubular conduit, and the inner surface forms a passageway to convey pressurized air to a patient.

6. The method of forming an air delivery conduit according to claim 5 , wherein the inner surface of the air delivery tubular conduit includes an air-resistant layer.

7. The method of forming an air delivery conduit according to claim 6 , wherein the air-resistant layer is a film laminate.

8. The method of forming an air delivery conduit of claim 1 , wherein the fibres include polyester or polypropylene.

9. The method of forming an air delivery conduit according to claim 1 , wherein the textile is a thermoformable fabric.

10. An air delivery conduit manufactured according to the method of claim 1 .
