Abstract

Systems and methods for identifying and presenting information regarding a fitness cycle are provided. Fatigue level associated with fatigue experienced in response to a stimulus and recovery from such fatigue may be determined based on heart rate variability (HRV) data and learned user characteristics. One or more cycles of fatigue and recovery can be identified as a fitness cycle(s), each fitness cycle encompassing a period of time beginning with the stimulus associated with the fitness-related activity and progressing through recovery from the fatigue experienced in response to the stimulus associated with the fitness-related activity. Information regarding the fitness cycle(s) can be presented to a user in a variety of ways.

Claims (32)

1 . An apparatus for identifying a fitness cycle, comprising:

a fatigue level module that detects a fatigue level occurring in response to a stimulus;

a recovery module that determines a recovery level based on the fatigue level; and

a fitness cycle identification module that identifies progression through a fitness cycle, the fitness cycle encompassing a period from the beginning of the stimulus through recovery from the stimulus.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fatigue level module and the recovery module base detection of fatigue level and determination of recovery level, respectively, on heart rate variability data and learned user characteristics.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a movement monitoring module that monitors a movement to determine if the movement is indicative of the stimulus.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fitness cycle identification module further presents data associated with the fitness cycle in at least one of a numerical, descriptive, or visual manner.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fitness cycle identification module further presents data associated with a plurality of fitness cycles in at least one of a numerical, descriptive, or visual manner.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fitness cycle identification module is adapted to identify at least one fitness cycle associated with a particular stimulus associated with at least one of a particular activity or stress.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fitness cycle identification module is adapted to aggregate a set of stimuli associated with a plurality of particular activities.

8 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the fitness cycle identification module is further adapted to identify at least one fitness cycle associated with the plurality of particular activities.

9 . A method of identifying a fitness cycle, comprising:

detecting a fatigue level associated with fatigue experienced in response to a stimulus;

determining a recovery level based at least in part, on the fatigue level; and

identifying a fitness cycle comprising a period of time beginning from the stimulus and progressing through recovery from the fatigue experienced in response to the stimulus.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising monitoring a movement to determine if the movement is indicative of the stimulus.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising basing at least one of the detecting of the fatigue level and the determining of the recovery level on heart rate variability data and learned user characteristics.

12 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising presenting data associated with the fitness cycle in at least one of a numerical, descriptive, or visual manner.

13 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising presenting data associated with a plurality of fitness cycles in at least one of a numerical, descriptive, or visual manner.

14 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising aggregating data related to a plurality of additional stimuli each associated with one of a plurality of additional fitness-related activities.

15 . The method of claim 14 , further determining an aggregate fatigue level experienced from each of the plurality of additional stimuli.

16 . An apparatus for identifying a fitness cycle, comprising:

at least one biosensor; and

a logic circuit operatively coupled to the at least one biosensor, wherein the logic circuit is configured to:

calculate and store a heart rate variability value;

detect and store metrics associated with characteristics of a user;

determine fatigue of the user based on the heart rate variability value and the metrics; and

identify an occurrence of a fitness cycle, the fitness cycle comprising a period of time beginning from a stimulus inducing the fatigue, and progressing through recovery from the fatigue.

17 . The apparatus of claim 16 , further comprising a movement monitor to determine if a movement experienced by the user is indicative of the stimulus.

18 . The apparatus of claim 17 , further comprising a recovery module to determine recovery based on the fatigue of the user.

19 . The apparatus of claim 18 , further comprising a transmitter to transmit data regarding the fatigue and the recovery of the user to characterize the identified fitness cycle in at least one of a numerical, descriptive, or visual manner.

The apparatus of claim 18 , wherein the logic circuit is configured to identify additional occurrences of fitness cycles, and the transmitter is configured to transmit additional fatigue and additional recovery data to characterize the additional occurrences of the fitness cycles in at least one of a numerical, descriptive, or visual manner.
