Abstract

A system, method, and enclosure for testing wireless devices. The enclosure includes a number of walls enclosing a testing space. The enclosure also includes a sliding cover secured between the two of the number of walls. The enclosure also includes one or more radio frequency layers disposed on the number of walls and the sliding cover.

Claims (33)

1. A test station for testing wireless devices, the test station comprising:

a plurality of walls enclosing a testing space configured to receive the wireless devices, wherein the wireless devices are set-top boxes;

a sliding cover having a plurality of slats rotationally attached to each other slidably secured between two of the plurality of walls for providing access to the testing space, wherein when the sliding cover is in a closed position, the testing space is fully enclosed; and

one or more radio frequency layers disposed on the plurality of walls and the sliding cover.

2. The test station according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of walls are formed from aluminum.

3. The test station according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a locking mechanism for securing the sliding cover in at least a closed position.

4. The test station according to claim 1 , wherein the sliding cover is composed of a plurality of slats rotationally attached together.

5. The test station according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more radio frequency layers include at least an absorption layer and a reflective layer.

6. The test station according to claim 1 , wherein the absorption layer is an isolation mesh with an attenuation of at least 6 GHz.

7. The test station according to claim 1 , wherein the sliding cover is secured utilizing one or more rails.

8. The test station according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of walls include a base and wherein the base defines a through hole for inserting wiring for test equipment into the wireless test station.

9. A test station for testing an electronic device comprising:

a base connected to a plurality of walls enclosing a testing space configured to receive the electronic device, wherein the electronic device is a set-top box;

a sliding cover including a plurality of slats rotationally attached to each other slidably secured between two of the plurality of walls for providing access to the testing space; and

a plurality of radio frequency layers disposed on the plurality of walls and the sliding cover, wherein the plurality of radio frequency layers include at least an absorption layer and a reflective layer.

10. The test station according to claim 9 , wherein the base includes a test bed for connecting testing equipment.

11. The test station according to claim 9 , wherein the plurality of walls define a plurality of chambers within the testing space.

12. The test station according to claim 9 , further comprising:

windows defined between the plurality of slats of the sliding cover allowing a user to see within the testing space.

13. The test station according to claim 9 , wherein the test station isolates the electronic device to −80 dbM.

14. The test station according to claim 9 , further comprising:

one or more transceivers for testing wireless functionality of the electronic device within the test station.

15. A method for testing an electronic device, comprising:

receiving an electronic device in a radio frequency isolation chamber, wherein the electronic device is a set-top box;

securing the electronic device; and

receiving user input to secure a slidable cover of the radio frequency isolation chamber, the slidable cover comprising a plurality of slats rotationally attached to each other slidably secured between two of the plurality of walls for providing access to the radio frequency isolation chamber.

16. The method according to claim 15 , further comprising:

locking the slidable cover in response to user input.

17. The method according to claim 15 , wherein the electronic device is secured to a test stand within the radio frequency isolation chamber.

18. The method according to claim 15 , further comprising:

mounting test equipment within the radio frequency isolation chamber.

19. The method according to claim 15 , wherein the radio frequency isolation chamber is wrapped internally with one or more radio frequency layers include at least an absorption layer and a reflective layer.
