Abstract

Systems and methods for providing a security code of an electronic stored value card are disclosed. A computer implemented method may include receiving a request for a security code of an electronic stored-value card, calculating the security code by a security code provider, providing a calculated security code of the electronic-stored value card in response to the request for a security code, and eliminating the calculated security code from all databases of the security code provider. A system may include a computer device of a provider of a security code of an electronic stored-value card, the computer device to receive a request for a security code of the electronic stored-value card, to calculate the security code, to provide the calculated security code in response to the request for a security code, and to eliminate the calculated security code from the computer device.

Claims (38)

1. A method performed by a security code providing system for calculating a security code of an electronic stored value card, the security code providing system comprising a user device and a security code device having a processor and executable instructions which, when executed by the processor, causes the security code providing system to perform the method comprising:

receiving, by the security code device of the security code providing system and processing by the processor of the security code device, wherein the processor of the security code device is implemented as one or more computer processor chips, a request for the security code of an electronic stored-value card;

calculating, by the processor of security code device of the security code providing system, the security code;

providing, by the security code device of the security code providing system, to the provider of an electronic wallet, to the user device, and to the merchant, a calculated security code of the electronic-stored value card in response to the request for the security code, wherein the calculated security code is configured for database storage; and

ensuring, by the security code device of the security code providing system, the calculated security code of the electronic stored-value card is not retained in a database of the provider of an electronic wallet, the user device, the merchant, or combinations thereof.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein a security code provider comprises an issuer of the electronic stored-value card, a processor of the electronic stored-value card, a merchant, or combinations thereof.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of providing the calculated security code comprises authenticating the request.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein a card token is associated with the request.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of calculating the security code comprises:

calculating, by the security code device of the security code providing system, the security code using a primary account number, an expiration date, a service code, a security information, or combinations thereof, of the electronic stored-value card.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the security code is a CVV2.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the security code device of the security code providing system, the calculated security code;

obtaining, by the security code device of the security code providing system, the security code for the electronic stored-value card;

determining, by the security code device of the security code providing system, whether the received-calculated security code matches the obtained security code.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the step of obtaining the security code comprises: recalculating the security code by the security code device of the security code providing system, wherein the obtained security code comprises a recalculated security code.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the step of determining whether the received-calculated security code matches the obtained security code comprises:

determining, by the security code device of the security code providing system, whether the received-calculated security code matches the recalculated security code.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

ensuring, by the security code device of the security code providing system, the received calculated security code and the recalculated security code are not retained by the provider of an electronic wallet, the user device, the merchant, or combinations thereof.

11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving, by a payment processing device of the security code providing system, a request to process a payment transaction;

identifying, by the payment processing device of the security code providing system, authentication information of the request to process a payment transaction;

identifying, by the payment processing device of the security code providing system, a value of the electronic stored-value card; and

applying, by the payment processing device of the security code providing system, at least a portion of the value to at least a portion of the request to process the payment transaction.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the electronic stored-value card is stored in an electronic wallet.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the electronic wallet comprises a primary wallet and a sub-wallet.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

processing, by a payment processing device of the security code providing system, at least a portion of the request to process a payment transaction via the primary wallet;

processing, by a payment processing device of the security code providing system, at least a portion of the request to process a payment transaction via the sub-wallet; or both.

15. An electronic stored-value card security code providing system comprising a user device and a security code device having a processor and executable instructions which, when executed by the processor, causes the system to:

receive, by the security code device and process by the processor of the security code device, wherein the processor of the security code device is implemented as one or more computer processor chips, a request for a security code of an electronic stored-value card;

calculate, by the processor of the security code device, the security code;

provide, by the security code device, to a provider of an electronic wallet, to the user device, and to a merchant, a calculated security code in response to the request for the security code, wherein the calculated security code is configured for database storage; and

ensure, by the security code device, the calculated security code of the electronic stored-value card is not retained in a database of the provider of an electronic wallet, the user device, the merchant, or combinations thereof.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the security code comprises a CVV2.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein the system sends the security code to an electronic wallet.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the system calculates the security code using a primary account number, an expiration date, and a security information of the electronic stored-value card.
